from the 80s, 90s, 2000s and song in the past 8 years. Genre doesn't matter. It can be hip hop, r&b, pop, rock, electronic or whatever the hell you call that genre, music from movies or video games, etc. just as long as it is good.

You gotta remember the majority of CE doesnt have jobs so they dont realize a legitimate adult job isnt available by walking across the street.

30mins is fairly normal imo. Not sure why youd consider 4hrs round trip unless you work 20hrs a week and get paid $100k+ but I dont think there are too many jobs like that.

Yeah, 4-5 days per week. If I am lucky 3 hours round trip with moderate traffic.

If your commute is 30 minutes you are pretty damn lucky

I've did a few test runs and what kept me sane was the music that's why I'm making this topic. The motivation to get to work and make money is also what makes it less tedious.

It's 30-45, but I also have to leave for work at 5 in the morning so I beat a lot of traffic.

May I ask what area are you living in and working in? 3-4 hours is a pretty big fucking commute, it would be like driving to NYC from albany every goddamn day

this is the point you move or get a different job, if you are working 8 hrs a day that is basically 12 hrs of work and 8 sleeping that is 4 hrs to your self, very unhealthy, not something you should be doing

are you driving? or riding some form of transportation?

i knew a guy who used to spend like 4 hours a day commuting, but he didn't mind it as much because he was on a train for most of it and could work from there. i wouldn't do it, but it didn't kill him for a few years.

driving yourself is a whole different story though

Seriously. Your "test runs" mean nothing in the face of this being your new normal for the foreseeable future. Three months from now, you'll be miserable. I've had two different friends make a three hour round trip commute for about a year, and they both were so miserable that they moved.

If you're really gonna be doing this, I'd recommend stand up comedy or podcasts over music.

4 hours, 4-5 times a week? You don't need music. You need a shorter commute! Otherwise, after a few months, a head-on collision with a truck starts to feel like a good idea.

You'll spend half your paycheck on gas money.. Might as well get a lower paid job closer to your home and have 4 extra hours doing something else than driving.
Or move closer to your job.

at my old job, I had to commute about five hours round-trip.

needless to say, I called in sick whenever I could, lol.

but I used to listen to a bunch of Pandora, and I got into just listening to whatever stand-up I could find.

You'll also spend a small fortune on oil changes, not to mention the more nebulous cost of the additional wear and tear it'll put on your car.

Also, four hours of driving is going to mean a near daily refuel. That's about... $25-30 per day/day and a half, assuming gas is cheap where you live.
