Super Smash Bros. Ultimates DLC line-up is now complete. This time the selection was made entirely by Nintendo. I decide if we can create a fighter based on their selection, then come up with the plan.

In fact, with Rex as a Mii Outfit as a purchase bonus for the Fighter's Pass, that implies that they may in fact already know who the characters are (and Rex is not among them).

Ehhh, I don't think being a spirit is disqualifying. AT? Probably, they wouldn't double dip there, but spirits are basically just pictures of the character, so I don't think being one necessarily removes the shot at being DLC.

Yeah, and deciding who to pick is part of said work. Otherwise, in order to entice us, they would've revealed one or two names on the pass. And that Rex thing, he was clearly talking about the base roster. And with the sheer amount of characters, Rex not being in the base roster makes sense. It's not much of one, but that Moo costume may very well be a consolation prize in the meantime.

I think assist trophies are pretty definitive deconfirms, unless since they count as stock now that it wouldn't feel out of place if they were both AT and playable. Yeah maybe not definitive.

Meanwhile spirits are not even close to being deconfirms. Snake and Mario were also shown btw

I also don't understand why people want Waluigi, he's a nothing character. And before you say it, piranha plant is at least an interesting and fun pick that no one saw coming, and has just as much personality as Waluigi. But I was more asking why do people still believe Waluigi can get in the game when he was deconfirmed 5 months ago. Every direct people say "where's Waluigi?" and "new character being revealed now, is it Waluigi?!" and then getting mad when he's not revealed.

I can't tell if people actually missed him as an assist trophy 5 months ago or it's just a meme.

Maybe they had some in mind already but weren't finalized until some time after the Direct itself was finalized. Who knows when they make these Directs? Those footages aren't gonna appear out of nowhere. I don't think the timing of the DLC roster having been decided is an indicator of anything special tbh.

In terms of the Grinch leak though, I'd say the one thing that tripped me up the most was Mach Rider being a fighter which made 0 sense, and the fact that Sakurai asked people not to expect too many fighters and then including a whole bunch lol. It is a Sakurai thing to do, but not to this extent.

Otherwise I think I was slowly leaning towards team real because there were too many circumstances around the leak that gave it a lot of weight. In hindsight I feel like people reading too much into things ended up giving the leak more credibility than it seemed at first
