AHAHAHA

once self-driving cares are on the road in decent capacity, your insurance for "preferring" to drive a car (and therefore increasing the likelihood of an accident by like 1,000%) will go through the roof.

I'll gladly move on to motorcycles.

guy.

dude.

Sigs are rather pointless, except if it's to showcase animation and images.

Good.

Now I suppose there is also the chance of an excise tax applied to liability insurance for traditional cars, in which case rates might go up afterall. But in that case it becomes a political issue and we all get to have fun yelling at each other on CE about it.

If I can see how they handle black ice, or random acts of mother nature fuckery then I'll trust them.

Probably the same way human drivers are supposed to: slow down and leave more space between vehicles.

I'm sure black ice hasn't crossed their minds. The car will probably floor it since it notices it's slowing down. Yeah I bet that's what happens.

no, but I resign myself to death any time I am in a vehicle anyway

Kutila told Bloomberg he doesnt anticipate that Martti will hit the streets for real any time sooncurrent street maps arent accurate enough to ensure a completely seamless ride. But he anticipates that the company will sell the underlying software that processes Marttis sensor data and gives it driving commands, technology that could one day power buses and cars conveying skiers up and down a mountain, much as how cruise companies are developing driverless vans to ferry passengers around ports.

Trust? No, but I'll get in them without a problem. I drive in Chicagoland, I already have plenty of reasons to not trust human drivers.

by The time it hits it will be reliable

It will sell like hot cakes because it is a luxury item. Some idea that they are going to take away peoples driving privileges is silly. You are still going to have to be able to drive

Imagine how sophisticated the self driving tech would need to be to drive in downtown Chicago after a snow storm like last years. Are they going to have self driving plowers?

I can't begin to explain how bad parking is in the winter here in Chicago, I've really no idea what a self driving car would do in that case.

Then there's things like emergencies. They're trying to get rid of car ownership and make transportation like ridesharing. Most people won't own cars in 20 years, which is about the avg lifespan of a car.

This is already possible, but let's be honest here, are you doing anything that would flag you for the NSA's hitlist?
