I hate 99% of the anime shit I've seen and it's mostly been me suffering through it for one particular weeb chick I was with.

Though I was shown Heavy Metal as a kid and loved it if that insane shit counts.

I watched Speed Racer, Transformers, and Voltron as a kid. Didn't know what anime was at the time. I just knew I liked it.

What actually made me aware of anime was a Saturday night block on Cartoon Network about 15 years ago. It showed (in this order) Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and .hack//SIGN. That more or less sealed the deal.

DBZ wasn't the first one I saw, but it was def the first one I would say I got obsessed over. I'd seen a small amount of original DB, Speed Racer, Samurai Pizza Cats, and Astroboy before DBZ, but wasn't as into 'em.

DBZ is probably the most obsessed I ever got with any show, tbh. It fucking blew ass when they got to the Ginyu stuff then the eps just looped back to number 1 again... and it was forever before it got going again.

It was Sailor Moon. I actually watched Dragon Ball long before DBZ IIRC.

Nah, I'm a child of the 80's, so I grew up watching Battle of The Planets (Gatchaman), Voltron, stuff like that. In high school, my two best friends and I would hang out on Friday/Saturday nights, and our thing was to rent a bad horror movie and an anime that at least one of us hadn't seen before. There was one video store downtown that had a pretty wide selection, from stuff like Record of Lodoss War and Project A-Ko to things like Urotsukidoji and Demon City Shinjuku.
