it's technically possible already. faa regulations will make it hard. also seems like a greater chance for the package to be lost/stolen

Considering how many packages are in transit these days it would likely be unsafe skies and tons of noise. Maybe for rural areas?

Maybe. But not fully, most likely. I mean, they can do it for smaller packages. But those have a high chance of being lost or stolen. And they would have to make sure the package made it safely. Even then, there's a lot more packages these days. I don't think most of the things like power lines and trees a re an issue. Maybe birds, but only larger flocks. The biggest issue would be other drones, I think...

It could easily work at some point in the future but were not really there yet. Its too new and still too regulated to work at the moment but thats never stopped businesses from wooing the government into changing the rules and technology will always get better to the point that itll eventually function very well even if the noise and sheer volume of them becomes rather intrusive.

I am more willing to bet on 3D printing at home being more accessible to cut down on shipping. But you never know.
