Lol you can basically become invincible by taking a bunch of small pills and having 3 orbitals. I got the pill baby and was so tiny that nothing could hit me

Used the negative for the first time and beat the boss after Satan. Started a victory lap and just picked up brimstone which is black for some reason. Gonna rock his shit again when I reach him

I've also got an air strike item and something that gives it two charges. That combined with dim bulb just let's me wreck bosses

Increased damage based on distance, though higher than the normal lump of coal effect. Was fixed in one of the DLC, didn't do anything before then.

Awesome. I'm curious do any items double their effect if you pick up a duplicate on victory laps. I had the chance to buy a broken watch again even though I already have one

I can say brimstone familiars don't double up. It just gives you another familiar which is nice but it took away my brimstone on the next victory lap. Now I've got a huge line of familiars following me. Need to find that damn BFF item in the shop

Either on your 3rd or 4th Victory Lap the fun starts.

Probably something stupid like Ace of Spades.

The first lap unlocks the Gulp pill. The second unlocks Butter trinket. The third unlocks the RERUN menu option, which essentially lets you start a Victory Lap at any time. Note that you much COMPLETE the laps to unlock said things. Just starting a Victory Lap will not unlock the Gulp pill, you have to win and start a SECOND lap etc

EDIT: Also, Gulp is a pretty decent pill. Butter can be really good but is mostly useless. RERUN is interesting but nothing really special.

I used a ??? pill which turned out to be gulp and it destroyed my trinkets. Made me panic until I realized I still had the effects of the devil tail and dim bulb

I miss brimstone but I've still got extremely high damage and like 3 different items that spawn more chests and double items. Every room cleared is basically 2 chests that throw out tons of bombs keys and coins

I'll try and complete it a few more times to unlock stuff

Also is the angel room just that much worse than the devil room or have I been unlucky/not unlocked enough items. My encounters with it have been less than stellar even when it gave me multiple items. The devil room items are just so amazing

Angel rooms tend to offer some of the best defensive items in the game and a few decent utility items as well. They also have a couple of extremely rare but game breaking offensive items. They also have the advantage of always being free, something to take into consideration for some characters.

Devil rooms tend to offer most of the best offensive items, several good utility items, a couple of amazing defensive items, and a host of trash items. However, every item will cost you SOMETHING (even if it was just your Credit Card or Duplopia).

Devil rooms reward good play with good items that will help accelerate your runs to their best potential as long as you can maintain that good play. Angel rooms can help shore up weak runs with free items. Just remember that if you EVER take a single Devil Room deal on a run then you are locked out of Angel rooms for that run (barring a few special cases, such as having the Duality item).

Yeah I noticed that you can't get an angel room if you take a devil deal. The best items I got from it is the cross that allows a hit per room which is admittedly great the angel buddy and the tears that cause a light to shine down and damage them. Everything else I got from it was subpar to terrible though like Spear of Destiny Holy Water and Scapul

I died a noob death on the third victory lap. I didn't notice that you had changed characters and had no hearts. Got killed twice in a row in the same room. Even with the item that give multiple lives I still only got the second floor. Taking mom's knife fucked me over too. It does great damage but with my rate of fire three way shot giant pennies and super ball that was way more effective

Congratulations! You discovered the bullshit that is The Lost. You should play a lot of Greed mode to make playing as him more bearable when you unlock him for good.

Wafer is only good in the Womb and beyond, but is borderline god tier for some of the game's hardest bosses. Holy Mantle is AMAZEBALLS for clearing rooms and good for bosses, how good it is depends on your personal skill. If you typically can beat bosses while only taking 1-2 hits then its fucking glorious

What do angel rooms have to do with self sacrifice rooms? Sorry, I didn not understand what you meant there.

The Wafer cuts the damage you take from a Sacrifice Room as well, since the spikes normally take a full heart.

You can increase the odds of getting an Angel Room instead of a Devil room by blowing up Devil Beggars, donation 10 coins to the donation machine, and sacrificing health to the Sacrifice Room. In addition, You have a chance to be teleported directly to an Angel Room on walking over the spike in the Sacrifice room. Finally, many angelic type items increase the odds of getting an Angel Room.

Oh shit you can be teleported there. I didn't know that. I got blessed every chance I could since I had the wafer and the book but it just refused to show up after the boss

I expected the boss after Isaac to be harder >_>. It's a good thing I got the wafer. I picked up Dr Fetus in the final floor and with the item that let's you control tears through a beam I was taking damage every room

I'm so fucking MAD right now. Decided I'd try again to unlock Lillith and got the GOD run first floor. Blank card in the shop and a Jera rune in the cursed room. No problem first floor.

Go down to the second floor and there's TWO MORE JERA RUNES JUST LAYING AROUND. I'm shitting bricks. Decide to drop one in the main room so I can blank card it too... Forgot what key drop was and alt tabbed to look it up. When I tabbed back in I had my hands misplaced and dropped a bomb on myself instead of moving. Words cannot express my rage

I just unlocked jera the other day and have wasted a few good times to use it. I leave it on the ground then out of habit pick up good shit like soul hearts before I can use jera on them

Jera is love, Jera is life bro. Learn to use it right. In the main game, the best general use is to drag it to The Chest and double the chests there if you have enough keys. All chests in The Chest spawn items pedestals 100%. This includes Fortune Tellers and Slot Machines if you blow them up. Jera before you open the chests = 2x the items.

In Greed mode, use it after you've wiped out all the waves for a floor. Even better, get Blank Card and use your active item as frequently as possible to see your cash flow skyrocket.

Nah mate, you carry the Jera with you till the Chest. In case you didn't know, all chests down there drop items, and the first room has 4. Double them and you get 8 free items. If you have Taroth Cloth, you get 16. If you have blank car you break the game.

Yeah, that one and Waka Waka are both worth holding down R to reset until you get some good starting items. Its a bit of a crapshoot with no Item Rooms, though. Basically hoping for good secret rooms/shops. BFF, either of the watch items, and the Boomerang from the shop are all really good for Solar System. Magic Fingers is surprisingly good for Solar System as well. For Waka Waka, you basically want a Devil Room with either Mom's Knife or Brimstone

I got super lucky on Waka and got brimstone early with lump of coal and infinite bombs on Mom's floor which gave me max health with soul hearts on mom. Pretty cool watching everything just get sucked into a black hole and die while I just sit there

There is a kind of pattern to using sacrifice rooms. Something like the first five uses give you items or nothing. Sixth might take you to angel room. Seventh might be angel item pedastal. Eighth is troll bombs. Ninth is angel. Tenth money or soul hearts. Eleventh is the other angel. Anything after that might take you straight to the dark room.

Per floor, not total across the game.

^ Do soul hearts work in sacrifice rooms. I remember trying one and it didn't activate with soul hearts but I didn't know if it was cause of that or another reason

Yeah soul heart damage counts in sacrifice rooms. Lump of coal doesn't interact with Dr. Fetus beyond changing the color of the bombs.
