Owning your own business is the best job you can have because you are your own boss, you set your own hours/vacation time, and for most people you have the potential to make more money than any other job you would be able to get.

If you have a middle class job you have the skills to start your own business, you just need a good plan and motivation.

I've been considering opening my own brewery. There's barely any competition in the area and I firmly believe I brew better than everyone else in this region.

All of that is right, but when setting your own hours, especially at the beginning, its essentially which 15 hours of the day do you want to work.

It depends on your exact business, but you aren't stuck waking up very early if you don't want to and you won't get reprimanded for being a minute late.

I have the safety net, but I have mental health issues and might need it just to survive in this world

First topic of yours I agree with.

Only problem is that a successful business is a massive time sink in the beginning and a lot of people are fine with just putting in their 8 hours and going home.

I'd rather just work 40 hours and go home. I barely have enough motivation to do that much.

Starting a business is a lot of time and effort, as well as resources that I don't have.

Many businesses have little to no startup costs. Even something as simple as selling your services to a business or individual that might need them costs basically nothing to get started.

It's also very easy for it to fail if it's a new business, so you'll need to put in more than what would be considered a fair share of hours unless you get supremely lucky. Also, depending on what kind of field, you run the risk of scumbag employees.

I lack the motivation to be social enough to network and grow a business.

Although I do have the money to start one I still dont want to risk it.

Sure, but I'd still need to figure out something I can do for a business then put in the legwork to find customers and that sounds like a pain in the ass for something that may not make any money.

For those saying your business could fail, the Amerian financial system is set up so that your business can fail and you can still bounce back. This is why you should start a business slowly (don't just quit your main job to start a business).

And how exactly do you plan to compete with people that have been in business before the tech boom?

i like how people always assume that all company founders do as bosses are so flexible.
They are actually the one putting the most efforts and hour . Which is why they have the biggest paycheck.

Chance is those working hours you say you can set for yourself would still be used for more workhours to develop your business

Pretty sure it's a millennial thing where they assume bosses just get paid sit around all day making 7 figures based on tv shows they've watched growing up.

Depends what you mean by bosses. Because the actual owners hire people to run the company for them and occasionally pop in to make sure they're not running it into the ground.
