Why do so many people always go to x-ism when something doesn't go their way? Can she supply any examples or is she just creating a victim complex for herself? If she does have examples, can she show that it's based on sex rather than just subjective umpires? The only way she holds any water is if she could prove this specific umpire was sexist.

Yeah and the game penalty came after a warning then a point penalty. Completey fair. It's rare to see players continue breaking the rules after a point penalty has been given but here we saw it.

The ump did everything by the book, her coach admitted to coaching (which she lied about) and then gave the bs excuse of "everyone does it" like that somehow makes it okay.

and the game violation was a cultimation of Serena going over there THREE TIMES to argue with the chair, called him a thief, told him to apologize to her and to the fans, and then pulled out the "i have kids i would never cheat" and the "youre being sexist" excuse.

She was getting her ass beat, threw a tantrum, and rightfully got docked for it.

She took what should have been a crowning shining moment for a 20 year old star in the making, and made it all about herself because shes a selfish child.

Serena has been the face of tennis since she broke out. Shes not getting unfair treatment. She gets insane sponsorship deals and when the rules are enforced fairly against her NOW shes getting shit on?

Gimme a break. She was frustrated she was getting rolled. She was frustrated she was losing to a much younger player.

She was warned 2 times and kept bickering with the judge. She smashed her racket in the finals.

She claimed she was fighting for women's equality (fuck outta here) in a sport where women are just as regarded as men.

And just because "but this person said this and didnt get in trouble" doesnt make what she did acceptable.

Roddick never got a game because he didn't get warned, then docked a point, and only then be in a position to lose a game.

It's not like Serena being docked a game is some subjective choice by the umpire, a game violation was the punishment for her next code violation.

If Serena kept going, her next punishment would have been forfeiting the whole set (and the match as a result of already losing the first set).

mixed isn't an ethnicity or nationality. Japanese is correct and Black is correct. neither are wrong and both don't need mentioning in order to be accurate.

The long and short of it all is this. Did the umpire call these issues as they are stated in the rule book? If so, they did nothing wrong. Arguing about what should be a rule and not is not the job of the umpire, only to call the rules as they see fit. Maybe some umpires wouldn't have enforced them as strongly as others, but this ump calls it as written.

she doesnt really have a leg to stand on with this particular incident. Her coach admitted cheating and this umpire has a record of disciplining high profile male players in high stakes games. That's not to say there's no sexism in the wider scope of the game but crying wolf here helps noone and makes Serena look like a spoiled brat.
