I never buy new games. The price is ridiculous and drops a large amount six months later.

More often than not, I buy my games second hand. The developers, imo, would see more money if the price was better.

That said, games like Hellblade, which were amazing and high quality, priced at $29.99 I'd buy at launch. And I'm sure sales overall would be higher. I'd also be more willing to buy season passes and DLC stuff if the base game was half the usual full price, because, imo, DLC is stuff that should have been in the base game more often than not.

I also wait for games to be cheap before I buy them, but that doesn't change how supply and demand works. They should charge whatever makes them the most money.

You can't play Monopoly, or any board game afaik, by yourself.

That being said.... puzzles. Sudoku, crossword, etc.

Personally I feel that the pricing trends are fine. A b it of research before buying has kept me from feeling like I've wasted money. While plenty of games are indeed overpriced when weighed against content or the games budget, simple research and no buying blindly stops that.

Also if you make enough annually $60 a game feels like nothing.

Your logic is totally flaws cause the example you use is a DL only game and retail is a real pain. Also switch cards cost good money.

The reason digital games arent 30 is the Ubisoft Ceo said they need to make sure the retail inventory fet cleared out before they can drop digital price.

Long story short watch Shark Tank retail is literally hell.

Even rich people shouldn't buy something just because they can. There are plenty of shit games out there so people should research what they are buying first.

Well digital only games should be cheaper than physical.

That's the point! I'd (and many others) would be giving our money to the developers instead of second hand sellers if games were a better price. In the end, the devs would make more money.

29.99 would inspire more "on a whim" purchases!

I'd also be more willing to buy less than stellar games at this price point. It would alleviate that "but it only got an 8/10" feeling. Games that got a 6 or 7 out of 10 should still be worth buying, but at 60+ dollars, they just aren't.

Old NES games used to be like $60... I think they might have actually been more. Game prices have basically been immune to inflation. If anything they should be like $100, at least from a developer's perspective. This is why we have shit like DLC and microtransactions

In some cases sure. I pay 40 - 45 for a brand new game on day one. I'm however selective with games I'll buy on day one because some games are simply not worth full price and/or I know a complete version will come out later. Now of course if you DLC/Season pass one day one with your game that certainly is expensive. I however don't buy DLC. If a game has great DLC I'll upgrade to the complete version once that's out. I did that recently with the Witcher 3 for example.

Phantasy Star IV was $100. Probably the most expensive game back in the 90s.

What's the point in rebuying the same game when you can just get the DLC? You pay more than you would by just getting DLC.

Considering that multiplayer games are by far the most popular ones among casuals, and they also happen to have the most DLC cash grabbing- yea those particular games are often overpriced.

IF you're going to DLC cash grab, your games should be $30 at most.

A complete game; that doesn't offer paid DLC can be $60.
