Some of the later levels in Solomon's Key totally baffled me. I never beat them until later on.

Star Wars for NES because we didn't have a manual and it turned out there was some random game mechanic you had to use that wasn't intuitive.

Got stuck on level G of Blockman (it's similar to Block-Dude).
I recently came back to it, pwned level G, eventually solved the levels after it... and got stuck on the semifinal level. I still need to finish that one off. I actually got sick of the control glitches and god-awful sound effects in Blockman and wrote my own open-source clone game, complete with code to import the official levels (via screenshots, which it then reconstructs the level from)... but then lost interest and never tried to solve the level, so far. --- ... Oh yeah, and there was an Empire Strikes Back game that annoyed me. There was a part where you're fighting those fatass AT-ST's (or was it AT-AT? I can never get those things right) and I just couldn't stop them all. They give you a limited amount of cables which tie up their legs for an instant kill, but there weren't nearly enough to take them all out, so you had to use your crappy lasers for the rest.
