Perfect Dark on the GBC kicked my ass.

Beat the N64 version and loved the game to pieces but for whatever reason I barely made any progress on the GBC.

Not entirely related but since somebody mentioned the n64 version earlier, I had turok 2 on the gbc and it was awful and p confusing in itself.

This damn game. I saw the gameboy version was posted above too.

In the part where you meet Tellah, he wouldn't join my party. He just kept standing there in the way. I probably skipped something I was supposed to do but it's been probably 25 years so I don't remember exactly anymore.

Not that it matters now but you have to go to the house in the NE corner of Kaipo. You'll meetRosa again who is sick and the owners of the house send you to find a sand ruby but along the way Damcyan is bombed by the Red Wings leading you to Edward

I love this damn game.

Was it that far along? Seems like it was earlier in the game. This was on the SNES, whereas I'm used to playing the GBA version so I dunno if that makes a difference.

Anyway, yeah, it's a good game for sure. Amazing for its age. I've played it through a good three times, which for me is a lot for a JRPG.

Yeah, I'm not going to do a whole spolier for certain word things so it will all be spoilers but FF4 spoilers to follow

It's basically the beginning of the game. After you get Kain you go to Mist and lose Kain along the way. You pick up Tellah in the cave and then Edward after the boss fight with Octomammoth.

Star Wars for NES because we didn't have a manual and it turned out there was some random game mechanic you had to use that wasn't intuitive.

Same with Miner 2049er for the Atari 800. Got to a point where you had to do something with the keyboard but it wasn't documented and we had no manual.

Got stuck on level G of Blockman (it's similar to Block-Dude).

I recently came back to it, pwned level G, eventually solved the levels after it... and got stuck on the semifinal level. I still need to finish that one off. I actually got sick of the control glitches and god-awful sound effects in Blockman and wrote my own open-source clone game, complete with code to import the official levels (via screenshots, which it then reconstructs the level from)... but then lost interest and never tried to solve the level, so far.

Up + select is probably the single worst input they could have used in Batman Forever to use the grapple. And wasn't it like R + down to drop down? What were they thinking?

Oh yeah, and there was an Empire Strikes Back game that annoyed me. There was a part where you're fighting those fatass AT-ST's (or was it AT-AT? I can never get those things right) and I just couldn't stop them all. They give you a limited amount of cables which tie up their legs for an instant kill, but there weren't nearly enough to take them all out, so you had to use your crappy lasers for the rest. I could never finish all of them :((

Instruction Manual literally tells you the barrels are controlled by up and down on the d-pad when standing on them.

This is why I still stand by the old motto:

"Read the fucking manual"

It's almost like game rental places never had the manual. Not to mention, 99% of the time, you never needed to read the damn manual (unless it was a cool one like Zelda).

If out of the blue, your game suddenly requires a mechanic that is mentioned in the game manual after going through several levels where you didn't need it - that's just bad game design. Sega fucked up. Deal with it.

Manuals were a part of the games back then. In Star Tropics, there was a point in the game where you needed to brush water on a blank piece of paper attached to the manual to get a code to progress.
