Just a decent PC beats the shit out of consoles. If you haven't hot a good gaming PC, I suggest you do so.

Don't get me wrong though. I love my PS4. But PC is just better. As long as PC keeps getting Tales games, I'm good.

Meh, a lot of older PC games (e.g. Mass Effect trilogy, Oblivion) don't have proper controller support makes it hard pass for me. Plus PC versions of games that end up having poor optimization (e.g. Monster Hunter World).

That's a console thing, not PC

PC games are "optimized" with certain generalities in mind as opposed to consoles having just two (three counting Switch?) fixed hardware configurations. In addition, most games these days are designed with consoles in mind first because of sales.

PC gaming is about to get even more expensive due to trumps dumbass tariffs.

For me, the biggest issue going back and forth from a console to a PC is the precision with a mouse, particularly in shooters. In fast paced shooters, those extra hundredths of milliseconds are an eternity on a controller. Plus coupled with just the general sluggishness of a controller, it's just so unrewarding to play and I can't help but feel some disappointment when I play a console shooter.

I don't find FPS completely better with KB+M, but it is better all things considered. Basically it's just the mouse that makes it better. Keyboards are really lacking compared to controllers. You have to lift a finger off the movement keys in order to use the reload or interact keys and all the other functions are done with your outstretched left pinky. Movement is also 8-directional instead of omnidirectional and you have to toggle a button to move slowly instead of being able to throttle it with a stick. You also lack triggers (I find clicking to be rather dissatisfying for firing guns) and rumble as far as I know isn't really a common thing for mice and especially keyboards.

So what do you think would be optimal? a wireless wii nunchuck and mouse setup?

I have to buy a new PS4. If RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima and Last of Us 2 came out for PC then I wouldn't but since they aren't ill get one.

I recently have been making the transition to pc gaming fully too. I've spent around $600 for my build and now I can play current Gen games maxed out and it's glorious. Every 4 years or so I just need to spend a few hundred at most if I decided to need to upgrade for the next Gen.

I set my pc up next to my 4k hdr 65 inch and it's been a bad ass experience. Wireless keyboard, mouse, and a portable table was the only extra costs.

I main pc and switch now.

A left-handed device that's not quite a keyboard or controller, and a mouse with lots of auxiliary buttons and rumble, and possibly a trigger despite how odd that would look.

Eh you have to agree that console manufacturers aren't rushing to make backwards compatibility a priority. This current generation isn't too bad, but it's objectively easier to play old computer games on computers than it is to play old console games on newer consoles.

Lots of butthurt people on console claim "HAXX!" when they probably mean lag or just plain sucking, but there's seriously very, very, VERY little hacking. I've encountered it only twice in my 12 years of online console gaming. The majority of console modding is stuff for non-competitive things (like Halo 3 Forge modding and GTA Online money hacks) because they're really good at cracking down on it.

Or maybe PSN is full of it, I don't know. I've only been playing XBL.

The only downside of a KB+M setup is the 8 directional control compared to a Omni-directional Analog stick.

its pretty overblown on PC tbh

definitely more hackers than consoles(and you will, eventually, run into some), but any good game these days has solid anti-cheat and hackers get dealt with.

And if you play a PC game that can't deal with hackers, they probably have bigger issues than just that(*cough*PUBG*cough*)

The only thing MHW PC has over consoles at this point is an unlocked frame rate. The game isn't optimized and either a bug or shoddy port work is causing the textures on the PC version to look worse than consoles.

You're probably thinking "What about backwards compatibility or virtual console?" And in a way, you're right. But its still illegal not that anyone cares I mean its unintended. The games were not designed for computers and computers weren't designed for roms.

A better comparison would be the PSP. It was incredibly hackable to run many emulators, but; you would never say "The PSP had a great library of games" because... that just wasn't true. In the same vein, you can't count nintendo games as part of the PC "library".

All of those are fair points but whether it was intended or not really doesn't matter here, in my opinion.

Emulation is a thing and lots of people are very interested in it (otherwise it wouldn't have advanced as much as it has), so I'd still say it counts as a pro for said people, in the same way that it was common to hear back in the day people considering buying a PSP because of what could be done with one.

My argument is not about the legality of things, but the reality.
