Like say someone absolutely refuses to get a Twitter, Facebook, Tinder or even an Instagram account either out of paranoia or just complete possibly unjustified hatred for those type of things, would you trust that person or think they're hiding something?

I don't distrust them, but I would find it interesting. Even people I know who had no interest in social media eventually made social media accounts.

Even if someone doesn't use it often, not having social media is a little unusual. Most people I've met who aren't on it at all seem to be dismissive and aggressively contrarian about a lot of things.

I thought employers look down on applicants who aren't on social media of any kind since it makes doing a background check on them a bit more difficult.

I thought employers look down on applicants who aren't on social media of any kind since it makes doing a background check on them a bit more difficult.

Not once have I had fun running through an Instagram page. Basic background and interview is enough. Anyone that needs more than those two methods are plain terrible at reading people.

i didnt have any social media until november of last year. just didnt see the point and now that i have it still dont use it very often

When I quit using Facebook, it was like being released from a prison I didn't realize I was in. Pretty damn refreshing. Fuck social media.

I use Instagram but mainly just post vape stuff (run a shop), but other than that I use no social media

I don't judge people on whatever they've affiliated themselves with.
Whether they spend their time on social media or not, in the end of the day all that matters is if they can get the job done. That's all I care about, and that's all my employers care about too.

Yes. Social media makes people socially awkward and its sad if you have to define your self-esteem by the number of likes/dislikes your posts get. Social media, in many ways, was a horrible mistake.

Being completely honest with my lack of interest in knowing what people are doing 24/7. Plus it actual helps me in social situations cause Im actually interested in what they tell me cause I didn't already see it on the internet. I also tell people they're disrespecting me when they use their phone when Im talking to them about something relevant. Sometimes when they look at their phone too long I just casually end my conversation with "and fuck you cause you're not paying attention anyway" >_>

Totally agree. Social media is toxic, and it starts to carry over into real life. But I also only ever had Facebook, so maybe Im that guy with the irrational fear.

Would anyone here honestly recommend someone sign up for twitter, or Snapchat? Are there any real positives? Or is it just something to do because friends do it or whatever.
