what is the numbers about by the way

and corrik asked my weight earliar

today at doctors it was 462

a couple weeks ago I weight myself at 476

my highest ever was like 550 after I fucked up my knee and couldnt be active for a while

but I am pissed becasue I was 430 earliar in the year and was hoping to get to 380 this year

I used to run. Alot.

I fucked my foot up and was out... a few months or more.

I gained some weight.

Different experiences but going from mobile to non mobile meant that my caloric intake changed.

I found the biggest problem to be eating out of boredom.

When I could run or hit the gym that took up time. Being immobile led to video games and television which made me feel like snacking.

I learned a lot about how CICO actually works on the fatlogic subreddit. If you can get past all the sociopaths left over from when Fat Hate got shut down, it's actually a terrific source of info and discussion on the reality of weight loss and gain.

Also sup bros. Started at 255-260 in early June. Just passed the 230 barrier after weeks of hanging around in the low 230s!

I put on nearly 100 pounds in under a year by taking an anti-depressent that had horrible, horrible side-effects. No matter how much I ate I could never feel full. It was miserable and I got very depressed.

I finally found a doctor who could help me, and he got me on another medication that also helps my problem (interstitial cystitis). The difference was immediately noticeable. Instead of chowing down on five cheeseburgers and feeling nothing, I ate a single turkey sandwich and felt satisfied and full! I actually am having to relearn how to eat, because my brain still tells me I need to keep eating all the food or I'll starve. I'm getting a lot better and am starting to feel like myself again.

My goal is 175. I'm really excited to get there and post on the progress pics subreddit and score all the sweet, sweet karma.

I'll check in here time-to-time now that I'm back for contest season.

While I am absolutely hopeful and glad you found out a way out of the bad cycle I have to ask though did you not feel partially responsible?

If I'm extra hungry after dinner I'll dip veggies in hummus. Eat kale chips. A salad. Drink.

Doing 5 cheeseburgers even when you never feel full is still a decision yoy had to make...

wtf, that's cool as hell.

I have a half acre and push mow it, but there are a ton of trees and some un-grassed parts.

I have a pool with deck. Flagpole with brick surround. Firewood slab. Side porch slab. Porch slab. Pavilion with slab and brick surround. Firepit. 5 tree stumps. 3 trees. Trampoline. Sand box. And wire fence. To go around. On the inside. Not counting the steep hillside around the pool which has to be pushed / weedwacked.

Then outside I have steep hillside next to house along fence has to be pushed and weed wacked (with a bird feeder and arch obstacles). Then on other side of driveway another strip along neighbors fence which has to be pushed and weedwacked.

Then along the outside of the fence I have 8 tree obstacles as well.

Obstacles and fence is what makes it hell because it makes me have to weedwack so much. Weedwacking itself takes like 4 hours. Would be like 30 minutes if no fence.

Also a question

If you know someone who struggles with their weight, and it makes them lash out at others and makes them miserable... should you show gentle signs of encouragement? Like letting them know you're there if they need to ask questions about how to do it and stuff?

I certainly compounded the issue by getting depressed, not giving a shit, and turning into an alcoholic. But I've done a lot of research on the issue, and I'm hardly the only one whose life has been ruined by these meds. Something I didn't mention were the cravings. I didn't want a sandwich, or soup, or some ramen; I wanted GARBAGE. Every waking hour all I could think about was getting as much terrible food into me as possible. It was like a parasite was controlling my pleasure glands. Awful.

To answer your question, I think I could have mitigated the damage somewhat, but I put on 80 pounds in six months: obviously something was wrong with me on a chemical level.

Geez man that does suck especially with the cravings that would make it much more difficult.

Glad you on a better path now !

Also yeah I love my booze but sadly it's all so calorie packed.

At least I learned long ago normal liquor has no carbs so it's great for a keto diet !

It's unfortunately high in calories.

If you ate sashimi then you're good but sushi with white rice is not that great. Straight up simple carbs and calories galore

5'8". Current BMI is 22.8, losing 20 pounds would bring me down to 19.8, which is still within normal range (would fall into underweight at 121). Not very muscular so I figure being on the low end of normal without being borderline underweight is preferred. Was down to 145 for a bit last year and felt there was still room for improvement, but then I started slacking off.

As much as...certain people like to say how BMI doesnt work, I think its real issue actually sit on the 18.5 underweight designation. According to the the BMI, a 19 is healthy when in reality that is extremely thin. I think the cutoff should be closer to 20.

I think 19.5 is still healthy. I've gotten closer to 140 lbs at 5'11" at a couple points and that would be 19.5. I don't think it's horribly thin because I've got some body fat I could lose and still be completely fine.

BMI is flawed for sure though. It's a general indicator of how you're doing but by no means is it perfectly accurate.

I might be biased. Ive dated multiple women with ED, and have issues of my own dating back to high-school wrestling, which greatly harmed my relationship with food.

Women (and some men) in that community see that 18.5 as a badge of pride. Its a barrier to be broken, and thats not something you want young girls to aspire towards.

I let my topic die (been dealing with bad situations recently). It turns out I was GAINING weight recently, and I had to withdraw from grad school due to bad performance during internships.

That said, part of me feels free that grad school didn't work out. I'm at home looking for work now, and I suppose I can use this time to finally focus on me, the person, rather than the expectation that I have to work, work, work. I mean...I'm not happy at all, but I have no better time than now to actually make good on my promises.I'm over 200 lbs right now, but I'm re-purposing some giant Arizona jugs as water storage. I think I know a good "drinking" schedule of sorts that was seeing some results before I got let go from my school (was around 195 after about three days). I just have to get over this stupid heatwave first to get back to it.

So I'm a total wreck right now. But I haven't given up. My knee seems to have recovered from a stress fracture, so I'm jogging again too.

BMI isn't pointless since its primary purpose is as a diagnostic criterion for the general population. For individual patients it shouldn't be taken in a vacuum, and for doctors who behave like a flow chart it can be a problem.

BMI classifications also used to be higher but got adjusted down in 1998 because it was under reporting the incidence of obesity by body fat percentage due to a decline in average muscle mass and new information about BMI's association with increased risks of certain diseases.
