I was a picky eater growing up, but it had more to do with texture and flavor. I found pork and beef to be absolutely disgusting alongside fruits.

Drove my parents crazy because those were the meats they loved. But every time I tried to eat them, I threw up due to either flavor or texture. Mom hated it, but after throwing up for the fifth time, dad stepped in and forced a switch to chicken or fish for me. It worked out better. But I never ate what the rest of the family ate.

(Note: the throwing up wasn't forced, so no sticking fingers down throat or anything like that. My gag reflex just naturally kicked in. I still won't eat pork or beef to this day because of that.)

I know several parents that have done this. Their kids became anorexic

I highly doubt this, there was a time when the vast majority of kids were forced to eat things they didn't like(vegetables).

I didnt. I just refused and my parents learned to not feed me it, or it goes in the trash.

Either they did what I wanted or I purposely not eat

translation you were a spoiled brat and your parents had no spine.

basically you're bragging about being a fatass and/or an unhealthy human being.

i didn't like the food my parents cooked so i just taught myself how to cook

the point is more about children, children do not know how to cook. maybe when you start hitting preteen age or teen years your logic might apply. even still, this only assumes you know what you should be cooking. most kids by age 5 can feed themselves....the issue is making sure they have a proper diet. Children should not have the choice nor option to dictate their meals.

I definitely dictated what my parents (in particular my dad) ate a considerable amount as a kid, but in the opposite of the OP; I've been an adventurous eater since I was little.

Yes they do, children can eat whatever they want.

Plus once they go to school they can not eat healthy

And yes! I was spoiled and proud

I love my diet! I only eat what tastes good, and I love it!!!!!

I encourage kids to eat whatever. Breakfast is not limited to breakfast food, I Had beefaroni from chef Boyardee for breakfast

Also if any parent had a spine and forced fed it, Id run away and call child abuse on them lmao

Lame gimmick is lame. I was sincerely hoping everyone would recognize that your posts are blatant troll posts, but alas this is CE and unsurprisingly someone bit.

My nephew seriously has some kind of mental disorder. There's picky, and then there's crazy picky. He's like 8 or something. There is a very, very limited list of food items he will eat. He will eat cinnamon buns. He'll eat french fries, but they have to be juuuust right, not too salty or too little salty. That's about it. That's all I'm aware of that he will eat. That's all I've ever seen him eat.

I've tried to get them to do things differently with him but they claim that this kid will just starve himself if he doesn't eat what he wants. I mean he won't even put up a tantrum or cry or anything, he just won't eat, and he'll be okay with that.

What do you do with a kid like that?

Nothing.
Keep none of the "preferred" foodstuffs in the house, and the kid will eventually eat what's offered.

I think there is a happy medium to allowing a child to make a decision and not being so authoritarian. EX:

Parent: Would you rather have grilled chicken and mashed potatoes or spaghetti?

---
I was given choices like this a child and greatly appreciate being involved in decision making. This helped build a bond between me and my grandparents (who raised me). It was less of an authoritarian dynamic and more of a groupthink sort of situation. As a result of moments like that, they taught me patience, reasoning, and respect.

my point exactly.

processed and junk food are lab created to be addicted, so when you have people acting like zombies for certain foods means their brains and gut bacteria are craving it.

that has to do with your body rejecting the food its because its not good for you specifically. food requirements and preferred foods for normal non processed food are genetic.

You would think, huh? Not going to further waste my time trying to convince people that things aren't this black and white though, and I guess if you don't have any personal experience dealing with kids with developmental issues then you wouldn't really know.
