My uncle(very close until a falling out 7yrs ago) was recently diagnosed. I want to call him but I don't know how to appoarch the conversation. I don't want it to be a goodbye...
Any (legit) advice?

Uggh I'm hitting up CE for real advice... How bad am I doing with this news?

That's rough. Without having any idea about his character and behaviour, I can't advise you to call him or not. Like, he could be like "It's been 7 years and you're only calling now cause I'm sick and dying?". He could also be really sympathetic and longing to ammend broken relationships now that he's ill.

I don't know. I'm not very good at giving advice, but good luck.

Send him a letter, like a physical letter. Typed or handwritten, W/E. It's a method of communication that can be very close, given the context of the letter, but it's impersonal enough to remove yourself from the situation somewhat.

Just write your uncle a long, thoughtful letter. I think that's probably the best way to get back in contact.

Better he be calling when he's sick and dying than to never call at all and be stuck with regret for the rest of his life.

I guess.
