I'm not really sure how that Muffinz guy on here plays the game 24 hours a day because I am bored to tears

I don't find anything particularly wrong with the individual stories but it's a complete slog getting to each chapter and going through it. They should've taken a page out of Suikoden 3 where they had different perspectives yet it didn't feel draining going through each one.

The game obviously isnt for you then. Majority of the JRPGs Square makes now adays are the complete opposite of what Octopath is so go play one of those instead.

every chapter (so far) has been the same structure: enter town -> see cutscene and use your path action once or twice -> run through a corridor dungeon to a boss -> repeat

i've done everyone's chapter 3 at this point, and it's getting really repetitive. no puzzles of any kind, areas are mostly corridors with offshoot paths for chests and the %-based steal/inquire race you get to do through town 24 times feels like a slog

it's pretty neat, but has some pretty glaring flaws

My blood literally boils at not being able to switch the character you chose first the developers at square have single digit IQs and eat out of the dumpster at McDonald's but not the thrown away food the fucking styrofoam and barbecue sauce

They're literally main character in name only
There is no difference between the character you picked first and last except the first one is locked in and fuck you if you want to switch them out
What if you end up liking another character more? Fuck you and we didn't tell you the main character would be locked in so you don't know until you've done five chapter 1s and however much side content.
Why would you not finish a character's story if you enjoy the game? That reasoning is asinine.

I could have four slots but instead there's an arbitrary limit because nowadays to work at Square Enix you have to get a railspike driven through your brain during initation

I mean fuck almost all of the characters have a similar mirror character that often feels sub optimal to put both on since you lose diversity but one of the characters is just stuck there and you don't even know it until it's too late. You can say that it personally doesn't annoy you too badly but there is literally not a single good reason within all the range of human ideas for this """feature""" to be included. The game is literally about seeing eight separate stories and using eight different characters and yet it is impossible for a player to use any party without the first character they happened to choose until end-game. I can't believe I paid $60 for design decisions you wouldn't see in a middle schoolers python project.

Your personal viewpoint character except that is not actually used in the game in any way. Why is the person I chose first 'my personal viewpoint' when the game completely and utterly fails to portray that in any way, shape, or form besides the party lock? Why do I have a personal viewpoint when the game is about enjoying eight separate stories of characters on equal footing? Why does a design choice in some other game determine whether or not that choice is shit in this game?

Therion gets way better with a subjob though I will say. He no longer has a need to use regular attacks because Steal SP does more damage and the SP cost is more than made up for in the attack.

He's quite self-sufficient, but doesn't do much to help the party other than consistently sub-par damage

No, more of a hurr durr this would be bravely default 3 for 39.99 aaaaalllllllllll day long on the DS, and don't even deny it. They tacked on an extra 20 because switch. That's it.

This isn't even in the line of Bravely Default games. It's a full game with full content and this baseless complaint will never make sense

same Square Enix division and staff, though they did get a different developer to assist, Acquire instead of Silicon Studio

I put the game down after 7 hours or so and read the remaining story on the net. Good thing I didn't continue - complete waste of time and money.
