Hoover asks her if capitalism has 'failed to deliver for working class americans', or if it 'is no longer the best vehicle for working class americans.' part of the preface of her question was to say the economy was strong and unemployment was low. in response, she said that the unemployment rate number is part of the problem. because we see that it is low, so every thing is fine. but it's low because everyone is working two jobs, and everyone is working 60, 70 hours a week to barely be able to feed their kids to me the plain meaning of her statement is pretty obvious and she is not saying that people holding two jobs is causing the unemployment rate to drop at all. because that isn't what she was asked... --- But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. <cite>Balrog0 posted [p:905353096] in Socialist ... Fewer people are working "more hours" now than in the late '90's, despite us having lower unemployment than then AND a better economy overall. Fewer people as a percentage of Americans are working multiple jobs than that timeframe, too. What does this mean? Well, on top of the fact that there are more millionaires and billionaires now than ever before (even self-made ones), the "golden age" of the late '90's that saw record economic growth for America has been surpassed.
