17 y/o Cohen Naulty from Virginia went out to lunch and paid for him and his friends at Beer 88 in Lynchburg..but he was MOCKED by the RESTAURANT after he paid in COINS and left a 30% tip in coins in which the restaurant publicly SHAMED him!!

They didn't expect to be publicly blasted over their bill as it totaled $35 and he left a $20 bill and a generous $10 tip but paid most of it in QUARTERS!!

The restaurant in turn posted a photo of the change with the caption "How NOT to pay at a resstaurant #nohometraining"

Cohen, a server himself ssaid he carried a lot of coinsbecause of his job at another restaurant and often got quarters as tips and used it to pay for his bill and had no idea he was gonna be mocked for his type of currency..and neither did the community as users hit back at them for being mean spirited and shaming a kid struggling to do a good deed.

Joshua Spence wrote "Not only did they pay, they left a 30% tip. The kid is a server at a another restaurant. He paid with his tip money. It spends just like anything else. Their 'apolgy' was alost as asinine as their original post. Even if it was a joke, you don't mock a customer to do so. 'ignorance"

Cohen said "It's just US currency. I'm allowed to use it. It's not illgal. i'm not doing anything wrong. They said we didn't have any home training. That was dirty. That was one of their hashtags"

The restaurant removed it from their FB and issued sort of an apology who said it was posted as a joke and should be taken as one They said "It was posted as a light hearted way of saying that osmething like this can be annoying to people that work in the restaurant/retail industry. In no way did we publicly shame ANYONE for paying OR tipping. We try to keep our page funny and relatable. And had no idea that this would be offensive to anyone"

Cohen's mom is coming to her son's defenseand said "If anybody met Cohen, they know it ocudln't be farthest thing from the truth. you know, he's a good kid"

The owner, Yao Liu is catching heat and is getting DEATH THREATS who says she has no control over their facebook group..

Cohen, who is now going under the monkitor "The Quarter Boy"is turning this into something positive by starting a fundraiser to help pay for other people's meals as he's asking people to scrape QUARTERS together and wants to find restaurants out there who don't mind being paid in quarters and treat someone to a free meal.

Brauburgers took the offer and said they will hold a special night where custoemrs who pay in change get a DISCOUNT and donate 20% to charity.

Do you think paying in Quarters for a $35 bill was stupid?

The verb comes from the phrase "Lynch Law", a term for a punishment without trial. Two Americans during this era are generally credited for coining the phrase: Charles Lynch and William Lynch, who both lived in Virginia in the 1780s. Charles Lynch has the better claim, as he was known to have used the term in 1782, while William Lynch is not known to have used the term until much later. There is no evidence that death was imposed as a punishment by either of the two men

------------------

First settled by European Americans in 1757, Lynchburg was named for its founder, John Lynch. While about 17 years old, he started a ferry service at a ford across the James River to carry traffic to and from New London, where his parents had settled. The "City of Seven Hills" quickly developed along the hills surrounding Lynch's Ferry.

In 1786, Virginia's General Assembly recognized Lynchburg, the settlement by Lynch's Ferry on the James River. The James River Company had been incorporated the previous year (and President George Washington given stock, which he donated to charity) in order to "improve" the river down to Richmond, which was then growing and became the new Commonwealth's capitol. Shallow-draft James River bateau provided a relatively easy means of transportation through Lynchburg down to Richmond and eventually the Atlantic Ocean. Rocks, downed trees, and flood debris were constant hazards, so their removal became expensive ongoing maintenance; eventually the state built a canal and towpath along the river to make transportation easier. Lynchburg became a tobacco trading, then commercial, and much later an industrial center. By 1812, U.S. Chief Justice John Marshall, who lived in Richmond, reported on the navigation difficulties and construction problems on the canal and towpath.

I kinda miss coins. they aren't used much anymore. for most of human history money was about coins. and they are so satisfying to collect in a bag and carry around and hear them jingle. better than stupid paper money. we should bring back the coin. ban paper money and make coins worth something again. start making coins that are worth 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars

lol

alot of people agree with me. most people do like the satisfying sound of a bunch of coins together. holding them in your hand. my post is actually a very common desire. most people just don't propose outright banning paper money but many people do think it's more satisfying to hold a bunch of coins than some paper money

Coins cost more to make than paper. And it's way more convenient to carry paper money than coins.

I have literally never heard anyone tell me that they like the "satisfying sound of a bunch of coins" until now. Not one person. Ever. The case for coins is always just that they last way longer than paper currency.
