I can only guess it could be the same with USPS and/or it simply got mixed up with packages going to Greenville, NC. Also, I work for UPS and, while not exactly the same, the operations function very similarly. There are a lot of strange movements in the system that most people think are stupid/a mistake, but they're not. For instance, if you're sending a package from pretty much anywhere in PA to pretty much anywhere north of New York, it's usually faster to send it to KY through our air network than it is to send it straight there. Or, even stranger, if you're sending a package from Harrisburg, PA to Lancaster, PA (less than an hour from eachother), and the package goes through Burtonsvillle, MD it'll make delivery at the same time as something sent directly to Lancaster. Phoned about it and then it started moving the next day and after a couple more days was delivered.
