Er, n00b question but how does switching classes work like that? If you're taking an advanced class you can only get at level 30, does it automatically start you at level 30? Or back at 1? And are you stuck doing levequests and dungeons for leveling since the main quests aren't repeatable it seems like?

Normal classes/jobs start at 30. Ones you unlock in Heavensward start at 30. Samurai and Red Mage (from Stormblood) can be unlocked at level 50 and they start at level 50.

Also if you change classes you do not lose any progress in your previous ones so there's no risk in doing so.

No, you do not need to start over.
All Jobs(Paladin,Dragoon,Monk, etc), start at either 30, or 50(SAM,RDM). You do not have to level them back up from 1-30. Note that you aren't actually levelling the Job, but the class. This is a very important distinction to make, because of Arcanist and its two branches. Since you gain class experience, and not job experience, it's how both SMN and SCH level simultaneously.

It's why leveling as a scholar instead of a summoner is great because summoner is a total fucking drag to level from 1 to 60

That is what happens when you don't frontload a kit for a class that needs all its tools to shine, look at RDM for example, that shit is good from the moment you get it.

Summoner you have to suffer for 60+ levels, hell until 70 when you finally get ALL your kit, and then you're a god.

I feel like MCH is a better example seeing it's core mechanic is basically uncontrollable until you are level 70

Yeah i guess that's true, summoner just feels awful all the way up to 70, i haven't maxed out MCH but i assume not being able to control heat makes it total ass.

The kits have to be how they because of how they start in levels. You get RDM at 50, it has to be able to compete with other 50s

Good job Choco.

Thanks. It said I'm about to go through another long sequence of cutscenes which I'm about to do now. The last round took a lot out of me.

I'm also wondering how possible it will be to do these ARR high-end trials and raids synced when nobody wants to do them.

I just dialed back the amount I play and I'm enjoying the game again.

I think the problem was I was treating more as a job than a game.

Vyrulisse posted...
Playing too much and going too hard makes you miserable, it's good to step away once in awhile I think.

I was so close to quitting for various reasons when I was focusing exclusively on leveling my DoL and DoH. It did almost feel like a job for me too, probably because I'm pretty obsessed with completion, but I just decided to push through it. Once I was done with that I started fighting things and doing the MSQ again and I started to feel a little better about it. Especially when the story finally picked up. I felt even better when Caelthus forced me into his FC because then I felt like I actually had friends for the first time.

For me, sometimes I just relax in Limsa and watch people or whatever. Maybe it's the vastness of the game that makes me not want to complete everything all at once like I usually do so I can just waste time sometimes and it feels like less of a chore. It also makes me happy to be able to play a game and actually have someone to talk to. I didn't realize how much I needed that until recently. Specifically, apologies to @Vyrulisse @Caelthus and @Yomi if I'm ever talking too much.

There is too much to complete in this game if you're a completionist to the point it can burn you out, so its nice to take a break every now and then and just... do nothing.

Subjective. Its kit at 50 still equates to what the others can do at 50

Sadly, I'm going to put that dream to death right now and tell you that's not going to happen - when the alternative offers literally no downside in any way, shape, or form, and is always and tremendously faster, and easier, no matter what, people won't do it synced. That's not even then getting into the whole issue of people actually having to learn and then do the mechanics.I mean, eventually down the line, maybe you could find a group of people willing to do older content synced, but that's pretty exceedingly rare, to be honest.

leveling is easy, skip story, the level 50 quests can go F*** off, so boring, tedious and more drawn out then needs to be.

or just not play at all, are you returning and starting anew? If you played ffxiv before I do not recommend coming back, I would go to ffxi or wow, since FFXIV all it does is copy/paste/reskin its content.

I mean, I'm just saying that it would be a lot cheaper/more efficient, since due to the cross-world PF, being on Sarg/Gilg doesn't mean what it used to. Unless you're part of a FC you enjoy. We'd more than welcome you on Cactuar either way though.

A4S was Gordias, which....yeah....and I just didn't feel like raiding during Midas afterwards.
