I like Rogan. I don't watch every one of his shows, because I don't have time to spend on a three hour long podcast every other day, but I do watch the ones that have interesting guests.

I mean, people that are pretty far Left can be remarkably hostile to people who are more moderately Left. Especially if those moderates ever have a conversation with people on the Right.

There is a reason I don't watch every episode. I think the last one I watched was either the one with Kevin Smith or Candace Owens.

I'm not a dog lover, but the part in the Smith show where they were talking about losing the dogs was a bit heartbreaking.

I like that he didn't just let Owens get away with her climate change denialism unchallenged. Made her look really ignorant on the subject.

I did watch some of the episode with Dave Rubin, but got bored halfway through and cut it off.

Extremists on either side don't like Rogan because he will talk to people from all walks of life and beliefs. He's really good at asking questions without being belligerent in order to have his guests explain themselves as best they can.

In today's toxic climate of zero compromise and not even listening to differing viewpoints that's seen as a crime of the highest order.

A lot of people today want affirmation, not information.

well, I guess it depends what you mean by "moderate left"

I would define it, essentially, as someone who:
-might support some social justice things
-might support some social programs
-might support some workers' rights issues

but still thinks that capitalism is good and/or hasn't outlived its usefulness

the last point is the most important one. if they don't see capitalism as inherently exploitative, then they're more similar to the right than to the far left

Maybe, but I think people further to the right may have a more favorable opinion of him because he's had on people like Milo Yiannopoulos, Candace Owens, or Ben Shapiro at all. And people further on the left embrace the "no platforming" thing for anyone on the right.

That is probably a fair point under most circumstances. There has been a lot of effort by the Right to make the Liberals and the Left the be way out there. But in this particular case, he is responding to averagejoel, an actual communist who not long ago advocated for killing the families that own businesses like Walmart.

To his credit, he did later specify that was only if they can't be adequately reeducated.

the best form of society you're realistically ever going to get is social democracy as per norway, denmark and such, but those nations are still capitalist

unchecked capitalism doesn't work, but regulated capitalism in the examples listed above works extremely well

i support social democracy but i will never, ever support socialism, because even in theory it requires the oppression of literally everyone but the revolutionaries who inevitably end up with all the fucking money, and the denial of private property rights among other basic libertarian principles

dunno about private lessons but I've given guitar lessons before and its a grind but a good way to make dough when learning a skill that translates better to wealth
