I tend to keep my quarters, but apparently there was one quarter in there by mistake. After about a year, I saved up about $63 in coins and was able to trade them for dollar bills! Coins are useless for the most part, until you trade them in for things that actually have value.

I helped a few technologically-clueless (i.e. elderly) people use it back when I was working in a grocery store, but never used it myself, the fee is too damn high

I only use it if the bank is closed otherwise Coinstar takes a small percentage of your coins for itself.

I use coinstar generally once a year. I throw all my change at the end of the day into a jar and at the end of the year cash in at the machine.

But yeah, I always go for coupon option. Honestly, getting an amazon coupon basically as good as cash.

I never use Coinstar because of the percentage they take. I always opt for the bank. Ended up getting $200 once.
