Current Events > Playing through Pokemon Ultra Sun for the first time.

I'll most likely pick up Pokemon along the way and use them until they faint and box them but are there any badass/unique Pokemon I should keep an eye on? I barely know anything about this gen.

Started with the grass starter and named him Quiver.

Good choice! That was the first time I didn't pick the water starter, actually.

Anyway, there are a ton of gimmicky Pokemon this generation, so just look up anything you find that seems interesting.

I always choose water too like squirtle, totodile and mudkip but I can't not play as the green arrow of Pokemon.

I hate gimmick Pokemon. And I hate this rival. I hate how everyone in these games are overly nice now. Being me back to the good ol Gary Oak and ??? days.

i like the electric bug, the fire/poison lizzard (salazzle i think), the water starter, the grass mon with trop kick, lucario and a dragon

Grubbin's evolutionary line is great. It sucks that you can't fully evolve it to Vikavolt until really late in the game, but thankfully Chargabug turns into an absolute tank if you give it an Eviolite. During my playthrough of Sun, I actually never evolved mine and kept it a Charjabug even well into the postgame.

Grubbin's evolutionary line is great. It's also a bit of a rarity because it's a tanky electric IIRC.

Dhelmise is the shit but only available at one fishing spot towards the end of the game.

Hope you like a lot of cutscenes, but at least you dodged the 30 minute intro of original SM.

Alola Grimer / Muk is really good for how dumb it looks and how early you can get it.

You can also Z- move non attacking moves, I felt like the game didn't make that super clear.

is it as bad as people say? i skipped it. i played sun and beat like 75% of the game and just quit due to being busy working 70 hours a week and had no life for awhile. did the same with black 2. just got boring since it was too similar to black.

i'll probably buy ultra sun eventually just to give it a try.

If you really liked S/M, it's worth it just to revisit it, but it's definitely not going to add enough for you to feel like it's a new game. It's not even like B2/W2 where there is a new game. It's the exact same game again.
