Have you seen the one drug advertise on tv (can't remember it's name) for post menopausal women. It is specifically and only for post menopausal women. And I absolutely shit you not in the warnings they say "Don't take it if you're pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant."
It's amazing. The stupidity of it honestly left me a bit stunned.

I don't get when they say "Don't take (Medicine X) if you're allergic to (Medicine X)." Like, how the fuck are you supposed to know if you're allergic to it or not if you've never taken it before?

I believe they do need to include that sort of thing even if it seems irrelevant for the intended use.
Plus off-label use is a thing.

all of these silly or obvious disclaimers can be rooted in the strange American practice of pharmaceutical companies directly advertising prescription products to consumers

Yep, it's a legal requirement regardless of intended use.

Don't take it if you're pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant.

That's in every drug commercial ever if it's something women might take since there's a distinct lack of research on how drugs affect unborn children. It's a safety net for the drug companies in case a pregnant woman gives birth to a deformed child, or loses the child, or experiences any other aberrations.

Lawyers did it. It's nothing more than CYA, to evade the "were you or a loved one..." ads that immediately follow.
