I mean I agree, I encourage my fiance to cry when she needs to, but I just don't like it myself. I guard all my emotions, really. I could have the worst day and if someone asks me how my day is, my answer is always "yeah it's alright".

I pretty much only consider death and incurable disease reason enough to cry. So if I feel it coming on otherwise I stop myself. It's easy to hold it back, tell myself dont be a little bitch, man up.

There is nothing toxic about men being men, being stoic and strong. I think it's nothing but admirable to be able to keep your emotions in check.

this is a legit reason.

Only cried over deaths of my family members or pets, still was embarassing.
I generally don't like this kind of emotions to be expresessed publicly, no matter if its man or woman that does that

I try not to openly, I'm really good at masking my emotions around people. Privately though, I do cry sometimes, life can be too much to handle at times. Rarely I will around my family if things get to the point where we're airing out how we feel about each other, usually during a very heated argument, and I'll go ahead and just unload everything then including being an emotional wreck and crying too.

It absolutely is. It's a natural reaction to stress and grief that's supposed to happen. Men like to pretend they don't cry because dere big n' tuff n' dey ain't no sissyboys, but that isn't the case.

Instead they stuff it all down and then end up blowing the fuck up later because they didn't know how to handle it.

I grew up in a country town playing sport with guys mostly older than me. Probably shaped who I am with the whole emotions thing, but so be it. It makes me who I am.

When things go bad or I have a problem, I actually skip the whole feeling upset or angry thing and instead go straight to focusing on what the solution to said problem is.

People (including my fiance) have called me a robot, but I enjoy the good emotions, I just don't verbalise or show when I'm upset or angry.

Yes it is. And it's a bad thing.

But don't blame the victim... blame the women who see these guys as more unmanly, or the other men who enforce this sort of stuff. Men who refuse to cry is like women who don't have sex often because they fear getting called sluts

Agreed with Shuto-uke. I dont look down on men who do cry, but I would feel disappointed and embarassed in myself if I cried because I was upset.

But as I said I only really cry when I'm genuinely overwhelmed with happiness

I do a lot of yawning and I cry a bit every time I yawn so if that counts I guess every day I cry openly.

If that does not count there have only been a handful of times I have cried.
