You have to create accounts, do fan verification, wait until you get a chance in queue to buy tickets...why can't I just go to the comic book store and buy a ticket?

Because comic book stores have nothing to do with NYCC.

That said I believe you used to be able to buy tickets from Midtown Comics at one point

Uh, I literally bought tickets for NYCC at Jim Hanley's Universe or Midtown Comics every year from 2006 to about 2011.

They make millions from the event, how much do they lose due to scalpers?

It is the worst.

Like, who goes to NYCC (or SDCC) to have fun? No one. It's so you can see entertainment celebrities and watch trailers that will go up on social media within the hour.

I go to both SDCC and NYCC every year and tbh, NYCC in terms of crowd size outweighs SDCC at this point. SDCC is still the king because it takes over the whole downtown of SD and you have all the film/TV stuff, which is a much smaller part of NYCC.

But damn... the con floor at NYCC is hell on earth. Way way WAY more crowded than SDCC at this point... trying to use a bathroom in the javitz center during the con is the thing of nightmares
