Smokers don't like it when people criticize their smoking habits. All it does is annoy them and make them want to smoke more, out of defiance, usually. Addiction is also a powerful factor, it doesn't matter how little advertisements there are or how much people speak against it.

They are aware of everything people say but they don't care. They smoke because it feels good and they want to. It's that simple.

Heck, maybe some anti smoking stuff is secretly funded by tobacco companies for that reason.

I was having this discussion the other day. I personally think they could work but they need to be made by smokers or ex smokers.

None of this, "oh I only smoke on the weekends"... "it's Tuesday, not even halfway through the week" bullshit or any of its ilk. It reeks of people so out of touch that no smoker is gonna hear that and go "I can relate".

I say this as a heavy smoker. Give me the ad campaign and I'll give you some material that actually relates to people.

It is, actually. That "Truth" ad campaign is funded by tobacco companies.

The point is to prevent people from doing it in the first place. You can't get addicted if you never smoked.

The commercials they play on the radio are so cringy. The friend that they use as the voice of reason always comes off condescending and reminds you of that person who scrunches their nose or some shit when ever someone pulls out a cigarette.
