Hey, does the game let you pick Pikachu or Eevee or do you pick when you purchase the game version? I know this sounds pretty common sense but I was thinking that it was Pikachu Eevee as opposed to called Yellow/Brown

You get the one of the version. So Pikachu gets Pikachu, Eevee gets Eevee.

As the main partner character, yes. I believe they said you'll still be able to catch Pikachu/Eevee (somebody can correct me on this if I'm wrong), but the partner Pokemon depends on the version.

They said today Oddish/Growlithe/Sandshrew are exclusive to Pikachu and Bellsprout/Vulpix/Meowth are for Eevee. There'll probably be more, like Scyther/Pinsir and Electabuzz/Magmar.

The only possible use for the Sevii Islands in this game might be as a place to catch the Alolan Forms, since later generation Pokemon won't be available.

The point isn't that you can't call a bad game a bad game

The point is that treating it like it's mainline game and going "They made it too kiddy!" as if it ever existed previously in some non-kiddy form isn't something worth getting upset over. This isn't replacing anything, it's its own thing. It'd be like going "Oh man no gym battles how could they do this?!" about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

It's not changing/replacing anything you love. It's a side game. It's better to just ignore it and get the real one next year than to whine.

Like, complaining about stuff like "hand holding you through stuff you knew about for the past 30 years" is silly because this game isn't meant for people who have played Pokemon for the past 30 years. It's meant to lure in a new fanbase through children and people that want more from Pokemon Go

Millions of 8 year olds played pokemon r/b without any of the baby features they added, without the actual mechnics needed to be dumbed down, and the game is still widely regarded as extremely easy.

Who would making the game easier be for exactly?

I mean I guess time will validate me and when the next mainline Pokemon game has all the same issues as this one, people might understand why I'm trying to encourage people to be critical about this game's flaws while the next is still in development.

The series is like 90% unchanged. The parts that have changed (types, special/nonspecial, eggs) are all explained more thoroughly than anything in r/b was, so theyre still simpler games than the one that captured the hearts of millions of children.

There's a difference with the pvp meta being much more complex and better in later gens and the single player campaign being dumbed down.

R/B probably still has the highest leveled trainers thrown at you for what levels they expected you to be for example.

Because it's extremely minor and who the hell cares
Remember - it's just the original 151
They can barely move stuff around, I don't give a shit if I can encounter a Poliwag in Route 6 by Fishing or suddenly I can find one in the wild
Now if there was a bigger selection, not limited to just the original 151 Pokemon, it would be something else entirely

Besides, I am probably one of the very few people on the world that is willing to defend this game graphics, turns out a lot of people hate it
Personally I only hate the character models, I think the overworld itself looks good, Misty's gym is fantastic

It kind of is in that we're definitely not getting another Gen 1 remake for at least 10-14 years due to this. Before Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee you could make the case that FR/LG were more deserving of remakes than D/P/P, which was an unpopular take but IMO a very valid one, but this game is definitely in place of a FR/LG remake. It even follows a pattern:

FR/LG was 8 years after R/B
HG/SS was 10 years after G/S
OR/AS was 12 years after R/S
LGP/LGE are 14 years after FR/LG
