I might get a new phone soon. I'm planning on sticking with android because that's all I've ever used. The 3 smartphones I've had are droid 4, galaxy s5 and s7.

Main reason I'm looking for a new phone is because my battery life has been plummeting and my phone has been slow and kind of buggy.

The pixel 2 seems cool but I don't know much about what's good right now.

Battery life and ease of use are probably the two biggest concerns for me. I use my phone for calls, games, watching videos and texting. I take some pictures but not a ton and I'm not willing to pay extra for a better camera.

Everyone is going to tell you to get the phone they have because it's "the best phone I've ever had" but really it comes down to a few things:

- how much do you wanna spend
- what do you like the look/feel/specs of

Battery life isn't really a problem for many modern smartphones unless you plan on going on 4 day camping trips without backup power or something.

Only advice I'd give you is consider buying a refurb. I did that and saved about $1k compared to a typical "flagship phone + 2 year contract" deal.

Midrange devices are a choice too. Way less expensive than a flagship, often pretty power efficient, and the gap in quality between the two has slowly been closing over time.

Just throwing that out there because most people here seem to think 700+ dollar devices are the only viable option when they obviously aren't.

This is good advice. Personally I would only go for flagships, but there are some really excellent midrange offerings that give your 80% the power for 50% of the price.

Maybe all your S7 needs is a battery swap and an upgrade to Oreo. That would be the cheapest route as the S7 is still a solid phone.

Anything but an iPhone.

I firmly believe the galaxy S6 has yet to be surpassed in overall value, finction and performance and you can get a new one for around $300.

Lmao

The Galaxy S6 was wannabe iPhone trash

The S7 is when the hardware started to feel purposeful and you can that one for under $300 too

On topic, stay away from the Pixel 2 TC. Its basically the worst aspects of both iPhone (no headphone jack, no expandable storage) but without the benefits of either iPhone or Samsung to make up for it (no water resistance, no wireless charging, worst screen quality, subpar performance)
