then we would finally have the ability to send in the army and fuck up the cartels. the only thing preventing america from slaughtering those cartels is igniting an international incident. Mexico would claim we were invading in an act of war even if that wasn't what we were doing. they care more about not letting in US soldiers, than they do making their nation a land of law and order again.

how big is mexico compared to Alaska? I bet Alaska is still bigger. Alaska if you placed it over the center of America, would stretch almost to both coasts and take up a fuck ton of land. most people don't really realizer just how massive Alaska is. cause the maps often don't draw it to scale

They wouldnt just replace the seats. They would add more.

They havent added seats since 1913. The population since then has jumped from about 97 million to 325 million, so I wasnt going to make any assumptions. If you want to, thats fine.

Of course, Mexico becoming a state would gut its economy -- which is largely built around cheap labor, often in unsafe working conditions (a real minimum wage and better working standards would send a large chunk of those jobs south of Mexico's border) -- while the cartels would be forced to either move further south or operate less openly. And, in at least short-term spending, Mexico becoming a state would balloon the national debt.
