I'm 6 hours in and tbh, it's pretty damn bad. The game tells you nothing. I get a quest early in the game, go towards it and everything is way above my level and fucks my shit up. There is no way to know if the quest level is too high until you're getting fucked up.

It's just mot fun yet...

I got a quest from the minutemen to get the castle, I'm level 11. I ran into super mutants, raiders with the skull by their name, some group called the Children of Atom and other shit. And then you have to fight that boss at the castle. No way of knowing that the quest is way too high of a level.

That's what I did. I just went back to try the valentine quest instead because I was sick of getting fucked up everywhere I went.

Not trying to be mean TC but it just sounds like you suck at games.

Fallout 4 had a lot of problems for sure but "I tried to explore and it was too hard!" is not one of them. The game actively enourages exploration and is designed for the enemies to roughly reflect you.

I never died in Fallout 4 at any time other than when I was screwing around.

I mean if you want to attack the story or the lack of dialogue choice variation or the weird focus on settlement building then yeah, no one can really argue.

But "They told me to go to the bandits but I went to the Deathclaws and they killed me!" just seems like saying "I suck at the game." rather than the game being poorly designed.

1.) Level up with lower level quests and exploration.
2.) Invest in combat perks (try to think about weapons you favor).
3.) Find and buy good gear.

You might have beelined the main quest.

Agreed. Played through Witcher 3 on hard with little in the way of problems. When you're given a quest 3 hours into the game it shouldn't be a quest that's way too high of a level for you to even attempt (here's looking at you castle attack).

lol Witcher 3 has a ton of notice board quests just like that. I spent most of that game with notice board quests in my queue that vastly out leveled me

They at least tell you the suggested level so you know to avoid them, Fallout 4 on the other hand doesn't do that.

It's not even in the sense of stuff like outleveling, it's just a vastly better roleplaying experience

Get a companion, don't be afraid to use stimpacks, strafe and run around, standing still like a lemon will get you killed.

Vats is overpowered and critical hit on Vats will always hit no matter the percentage chance.

If a monster is kicking your ass then run away or take cheap potshots.

Don't forget to use grenades.

Fallout 4 doesn't level quests that way.

You can do any quest at any level, there's no restrictions. You can beat the game at a single digit level while naked if you desired.

It's not like Skyrim where the giants will one hit kill you if you run up to them at level 1

The only downside for me were the shitty dialogue choices.

Voice acting for the player character wasn't terrible and got way better once I turned off the setting for where it shows you while talking...

Gameplay itself was great, imo. It felt a lot more "sandboxy" compared to 3 and NV but still not close to something like GTA or Far Cry. Idk, this one leaned more towards action than rpg imo.
