He got past the tutorial and got to Kakariko and then we started playing Smash. So I woke up and saw him playing it and I didnt think anything about it overwriting my save. But I looked at the time stamps when I tried to log in my profile, I had no idea what had transpired when I was watching him play. I didnt just sit there and go "yeah man write over my shit". It's all good though. Just gotta start again and I have a much better feel for the game now at the start. Still gonna take serious time to get back to where I was at, but I can get there faster now probably.
