According to The Hollywood Reporter, MGM is set to remake the original 1988 horror film Childs Play, which of course follows a toy doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer. It will be fast-tracked by the studio, with Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) directing. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will produce. Production begins in Vancouver this September from a script by Tyler Burton Smith. Aaron Schmidt will executive produce. This will be the first Chucky movie to get released by MGM since the original. All of the sequels were released by Universal. Its unknown how or if this will connect to the upcoming Childs Play TV series. Chucky creator Don Mancini confirmed that the series was in development last month. Its expected to follow the events of Cult of Chucky, the latest film sequel. The plot of Cult of Chucky totally ruined the story line moving forward to they might as well start over.
