It was 2.19 or 2.29 for every item on that menu. Is it normal for them to be that expensive. I thought I could get a couple tacos and a drink for $5 but that wasn't enough so I just left.

Weird. The Taco Bells where I live have 15 things or so on their dollar menu. Including Fritos burritos and nachos.

I should add not only do they have a $1 menu there is also $2 and $3 options. For example cheeseburger = $1. Triple cheeseburger = $3.

Can you say what city this is? I feel this is more of a location situation and feel people who have the $1 prices are coming out of woodwork to say they get it cheaper just to be contrarian.

No idea. My guess is they don't say it is $1 menu. It is called Dollar Cravings so if that is $2 it is still in dollars.

bay area. wouldn't be surprised.

all the dollar menu items are 1.30$. minus the nacho's. those are 2.20$.
in oregon.

my typical order:

1 frito burrito
1 cheesy bean and rice burrito
1 shredded chicken burrito: this one is only 1.99$.

I live in Vegas and those are the prices. Dunno where that guy lives though. I think big cities like NYC probably up their prices just like how McDonald's in the malls here don't have a dollar menu.

I got a pretty direct answer searching on reddit. Corporate stores have the $1 prices. If it's a franchise they can charge whatever they want. NYC is probably mainly franchise stores so that is why the dollar menu isn't actually $1 at many of the locations in this city.

I've been to tons of TBs in NYC in all 5 boroughs and everything is always $1. Same with other fast food places and national prices.

The only time it's different is at the highway service stations and high tourist areas like Times Square and other tourist parts of Manhattan.

Well in New York city that isn't the case. The cost is 1.99-2.19 for the majority of the items at the stores. They lost my business and I just went to a local Mexican store instead.

Well that isn't true. I went to the Taco Bell site and looked at several Menus where you can order online in NYC. Anyone else can look it up if they think I am lying and the prices aren't like that.

Here is a location in the Bronx...

I guess it depends on the location. The one nearest to me doesn't seem to have 5 Dollar Box. They are 6.39 and 6.99. Another half mile away it is 7.99.

All these price variations makes it less likely for me to ever shop there since hearing it is suppose to be cheaper lets me know I am being ripped off.

I'm not saying you're lying. I'm saying generally they're still the same prices even if some are not.

Here is a location in the Bronx. I would guess there are maybe at least 40 Taco Bells in NYC. I haven't found the corporate store yet in the city if there is one with everything $1 yet but that is too much work just to shop at a place.

You don't have to be a corporate store to have those prices. You're right that franchises can set their own prices, but they don't have to be corporate to have the $1 deals.

Where are you in the city? Are you asking if there are ones that have the $1? I can tell you which ones if you want.

I'm in the Times Square Area. Sure. I was doing my own research and seems like Brooklyn has cheaper prices than Manhattan locations.

I think minimum wage in NYC is $13. Looked up the three states/cities brought up that I can remember minimum wages Las Vegas (7.25), Portland (10.25), Florida (8.25) So that is interesting. Maybe that has something to do with it.
