You know, looking over the current roster, I recognise about three quarters of the fighters, but not all. I've owned every tabletop Nintendo console since the N64, so I'm kinda surprised at this, but there are franchises I've never really played, like Fire Emblem, so that makes sense. It's kinda funny watching people get really excited about one of their favourite characters being included in Ultimate, or wondering whether or not it will happen. For me, I love characters like Mario, Sonic, Captain Olimar, and Pac-Man.

That's cuz being included in the game pretty much immortalizes them, and historically it's been great for whatever series that did get representation. But nowadays it's just like, almost every Nintendo series ever made got reps one way or another. Which is cool, but I guess we won't ever get a Fire Emblem effect all over again, where Roy and Marth being in a game made so many people aware of the series before it even made it across the seas.

Smash 4 has a decent pace already. I don't think I'd ever want the series to go back to being as fast as Melee.

Between "okay" and "good"

All I really care about are characters, and having every previous Smash fighter, while cool, also strikes me as just a bit lazy (though we might have damn near 100 stages, which is awesome).

Gonna need a few big-name "new" characters (not echos) to move the hype meter to 10.

Really need to fix the knockback from the demo, and as a fan I want actual new characters not Young Link and freaking Pichu back, but otherwise I'm looking forward to it. Just have real combos please

Recent interview with Sakurai he outright says he took 4 and sped it up but not as fast as melee (to not intimidate new players) and he also increased the knock back. He also says the reason he didn't do this for 4 is because it was hard to keep track of your character on the 3DS version.

I'm going to pin this one here on a bad decision from Iwata. Heart was in the right place but 3DS versions needing to be identical in gameplay really hurt the overall game.

It looks amazing. Just needs Dixie Kong, King K. Rool, and Decidueye, and it'd be almost perfect.

Don't expect one until DLC. The game's project plan was finished in December 2015.

On that note, Elma from Xenoblade X has a shot.

Actually, Sakurai was originally only going to make a 3DS Smash Bros., but was convinced to make it for both 3DS and Wii U.

I just want Sakurai to start using the Alternate Move sets from 4 and integrate them for all the clone characters so that they play differently.

The move-sets already exist, why not use them and make clone characters that play differently?

An update some standard characters to play differently then before.

And give Zero-Suit Samus her busty chest back

Snake needs his firm arse restored.

Ganondorf needs to be restore his junk since he now looks like a Ken doll.

Honestly I am as hyped for this game as I was for my hype for melee when it was in the process of releasing.

It looks so good. It essentially has what I wanted: the entire roster of Smash 4 returning (wasn't expecting everyone from the entire series, but I'll take it) as well as faster-paced gameplay.

Now if it just has decent single-player (something Smash 4 was lacking in despite me really liking the game) and a few more newcomers and/or DLC (almost guaranteed), then this game would be perfect.

I don't really care about what new characters get in, because the only ones left that I really want are very unlikely. I love that they finally included Ridley though and that they're bringing everyone back.

The main thing I want from the game is fun single player modes. If I absolutely had to pick a favorite game, it would be Melee. And I mostly played Melee alone. Brawl was enjoyable too thanks to SSE. Smash 4 though, while fun at first, quickly became a chore. Maybe Ultimate will be the same and I'm just riding on nostalgia. The fact that most of the roster has to be unlocked is a good sign though. And while I don't expect something like SSE, maybe they could bring back Adventure Mode at least.

Looks good, I'll definitely be getting it. Tbh, I'm more hyped about the revamped stages more than anything else. Two of my favorite stages from Melee - Peach's Castle and Great Bay - are returning, and their updated designs looks amazing.
