As a kid, I remember marathoning the game at a friend's house. Late that night everyone else was asleep, I was playing in the dark, and Magus's castle was really creepy. It really worked on me as a little guy.

The whole Zeal section was nice, and fighting Dalton on the ship stands out for me.

I never knew you could get a unanimous Not Guilty. I always thought that one juror just did it because he was a monster in disguise like Yakra or something.

I was playing in the dark, and Magus's castle was really creepy.

I am still amazed how all the gimmicks in Magus's castle have that fine line of being slightly annoying but not tedious.

- The Trial
- The Black Tyrano fight
- The Ocean Palace (and of course what happens at the end)

You can't in the SNES version. That guy is bugged and always goes guilty. I think it was fixed in the other versions.

My buddy had the game and I'd go over and play it at his house from time to time. He was close to the end when in my game I got to the Magus fight as Frog. My buddy is like, "this part is hella hard," so when Magus asked me to fight, I was like "nah, I'm outtie."

Then, he runs after me, asking to join my party. I'm fucking stoked but my buddy freaks out. He's swearing and yelling so hard his mom hears him down in the basement and comes up to yell at him for the language. After I played another hour or two I passed him the controller and we went back to start a new game cause he couldn't imagine not getting to use Magus.

Good times. I'll never forget his face nor reaction. One of the funniest moments of my life.

Yeah, Square at the time had a knack for making key decisions not very obvious. They dialed this up to 11 in Chrono Cross, wherein saying 'no' to what would be a thoroughly rhetorical question in any other RPG ('will you try to find medicine to save your dying friend?') is the only way to recruit arguably the best party member in the game.

Nah he's definitely not a good party member because he's just not a team player. He's got only 2 triple techs and none of them are with crono (you need rocks which wastes an accessory).
