Sony and former Sony CEO Chief Amy Pascal are in early development to deveop a movie adaptation of Marvel Comic Female Superhero SILK, about a KOREAN-American Superhero named Cindy Moon!!

Cindy is a student in Peter Parker's class who was also bitten by a radioactive spider around the same time as Peter as she gains abilities to shoot webs and possess eidetic memory and advanced spider sense far stronger than Peter's but has less superhuman strength though is much faster.

This is the first standalone feature for an asian superhero as she was first seen in Spiderman Homecoming played by 19 y/o China Born Tiffany Epensen and she briefly made an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War

No word if she will also play the title character but the film is an add for Sony's push for DIVERSITY and INCLUSION on screen, especially in big blockbusters as Amy is championing for strong female led characters as she did for the reboot for Ghostbusters.

It's set in a modern day strong female lead as a thriller

Because they're limited to the characters they legally have access to.

To be fair, I'd rather they make a movie out of a relatively unknown Asian character and give her exposure than to, say, make a Spider-Gwen movie in which Gwen Stacey is Asian.

that actress is not who will play her in the Silk movie. the Silk movie is not part of the MCU. it's in the world that Venom is in. a separate Sony Spidyverse

they haven't cast Silk yet for the movie. also, it's not just "another spider that bit her". it's the SAME spider. that's an important point in the comics. they have a genetic bond due to it. and when they first meet, they constantly want to fuck.

I don't even remember her in either Spiderman Homecoming or Infinity War.

technically every single marvel super hero not on the Fantastic Four, is a spinoff of the Fantastic Four. since the Fantastic Four were the original team that started the Marvel Age of comics. they all live in the world the Fantastic Four first started in 1961

unless you count the golden age, in which case the originals are Human Torch (but not the one from the Fantastic Four,)and the Sub Mariner both which I think debuted in the same exact issue of Marvel Comics #1, in 1939
