For one, I despise whole wheat and white rice. I dont see a reason to take one for the team for something that can be solved by fostering a culture with better eating habits without the need to outright mandate a government sanctioned ban on certain foods like some authoritative state. Think of it this say, if you think the government has to step in and coddle people for something so basic as having better eating habits, then thats not exactly a population that can make rational decisions on a whole host of other important life choices either.
Well then, most of society should be stripped of their voting rights since most of society can't make rational decisions then.

Thats what Im saying is the implication of your position in regards to government regulating our eating habits. Its obviously a ridiculous suggestion to strip people of voting rights because the majority may not be reasonably informed enough to vote. Government is there to aid its people in extentunating circumstances, not to make better life choices for them, even if a lot of people arent capable of making good choices consistently, we just have to live with that as part of being human.

I thought it was closer to 70%

The information below is from 2016, but its the most up to date study I could find:

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/average-weight-american-men-15-pounds-20-years/story?id=41100782

Researchers from the CDC found that the average weight of U.S. men over the age of 20 has increased to 195.7 pounds, according to data from 2011 to 2014. The former average, 180.7 pounds, was based on data from 1988-1994. The heights of both men and women remained about the same.

Women and children are not immune to the slow weight gain of recent decades, either. The average woman in 1960 weighed 140.2 pounds. Today, the average weight for a woman is 168.5 pounds. Adolescent boys and girls seem to be the most at risk, with a 12 pound average weight gain -- proportionately more based on height -- compared to 20 years ago.

Then we do what we can, like how the government tries to increase Fuel Efficiency Ratings of most Automobiles every so often to have a lesser impact on the environment.

We can replace parts of food to have a "Healthier" substitute to help with the Physical Health of the nation.

That's what I'm trying to do.

I realize this is dated, but the info shows us an unsurprising trend:

The world is counting calories and ignoring sugar. Its no wonder everybody lacks the energy to exercise. Calories and carbs are good if you want energy to burn. Its like putting gas in a car. Sugar is never good. Health foods are packed with it and people fool themselves into thinking theyre making good choices.

To be fair, a person who is irresponsible in being environmentally friendly affects other people because we all live in the same environment. A persons individual dietary habits, however, generally do not affect others as significantly and therefore has less of a reason to be within the governments jurisdiction to regulate. The idea that the government is supposed to act like some nanny and protect us from making bad choices is ludicrous to me, thats just not what the government is there for (unless you believe in an authoritative government), if anything its there for us to have the right to make the bad choices we do make.

A large group of Fat folks affects you monetarily in that it raises your overall Health Insurance Premiums, ergo costing you money in the long run.

Fat Folks cost more to transport around, ergo burning of more fossil fuels, which in turn hurts you indirectly.

Anyways, people can still "Over Eat" and still get fat if they want to.

Thats why I said not as significantly, I realize theres obviously some personal downsides to an obese population, but lets not pretend its anywhere near as significant as having a population thats mostly environmentally unfriendly. Also, as posted earlier this topic, the data shows obese people smokers cost less in the long run in terms of medical costs. Also, if youre going to regulate what people can eat, why just stop there, why not just regulate food portions as well? In NYC for instance, restaurants arent allowed to serve fountain drinks over a certain size.
