I mean, its just them doing their job. Its really not hard to take 5 extra seconds to say no pre orders and no to a card or whatever the 2nd question is, if there even is a second question.

The problem is when you say no, then they go rambling about how you should buy it and you would be crazy to not buy whatever else they want to sell... basically wasting your time when you already said no

I find it hard to mourn the loss of GameStop because of their shitty business practices and harrassment of customers to buy or pre-order. How many times do I have to say no? Haven't set foot in one to make a purchase since 2011.

Luckily there are other local game shops filling the void with larger inventory.

Or alternatively, as long as a $10 game sells for $20 via digital retailers...

Then again I basically only buy games on sale these days, where the situation is reversed.

I'm still really baffled where all these horror stories are coming from with Gamestop. Not that I go there very often, but the times I do, the only things they ask me are "Do you have a powerup rewards card?" I say "I don't" and then they ask "Would you like to sign up today?" and I say "Nah no thanks."
That's fucking it. Once in a while they ask if there's any games I want to preorder, but it's not even everytime, and if they do it's while they're ringing my stuff up anyway.

Nothing Gamestop asks is more than any other places with membership services. Panera does it, most restaurants try to upsell, Best Buy does, almost every grocery store too, it's how stores work now.

It was a funny joke at first but I'm actually starting to be convinced that all those complaints legitimately are from unadjusted turbonerds and 16 year olds, who only ever leave their home to buy a video game. Because any fucking grown human is used to employee scripts by now from shopping anywhere.

I'm going to be honest, I only had one really bad experience in gamestop with an employee who wouldn't shut up and the script scarcely bothered me after that. If anything, the few times someone who obviously didn't want to work there generally made me laugh. One time a dude tried to sell me and a friend on the deep story of Bulletstorm for example

Yeah...

I remember one time there was this chick who said "that was epic" and followed it up after a few seconds with "epic for the win."

The year was probably 2013 or 14, a good five to six years after both those phrases fell from popularity.
