I'm not talking about what DACA does now. I am SAYING that we can make legislation that does something SIMILAR to DACA and extend it to other people.

But see that's a slippery slope waiting to happen. First you give a free pass to those who were covered under DACA but who have been here so long that they are no longer children. Next you give amnesty to families because we can't break up families. Then you give amnesty to X group, Y group and Z group. But wait a minute now groups 1, 2 and 3 all want a free pass to come right in.

There's checks and balances including limits and these people paying fees to do things the legal way for a reason.

These people crossing the border and doing so illegally are CRIMINALS, whether brought here as children or crossing recently. They should have to do things the LEGAL way or face REAL consequences if they don't.

PRetty sure he could move and be a productive member of China at the hundreds of safe cities there

MAGA thinking in a nutshell:

- "We don't have a problem with immigration, just come here legally"
- "We don't have a problem with legal immigration, we just want to do away with legal immigration (work visas, asylum, family reunification)

Nice catch 22. But then they get more cynical:

- "It's not about immigration, it's about demographics. This won't be the country I was born in if I see more people like you here. But go back to wherever your grand-grandparents came from, you can be successful there and there are many safe and nice cities there"
- "Oh, you did go back to china/mexico/korea/africa after all? That's nice and all, but I hate the fact that your country is doing well! We will disrupt trade with that country"
- "Oh! That country responded with tariffs of their own? That's it, we have other countries too"

I ask this all the time. I think the idea is that the government is going to make an announcement stating that they've become tyrannical and now it's OK to go shooting at government agents, contractors, and employees.

Because of course hard working and productive automatically cancels out being a criminal who committed a criminal act to come here instead of doing things the RIGHT way?

But I guess we're supposed to just look the other way in these instances, right?

this doesn't change the fact that he came here illegally and broke the law.

Being an upstanding member of society to avoid deportation detection doesn't excuse him from breaking the law to begin with.

Sure. In the more rough prisons you have to deal with being attacked, either sexually or otherwise. But yet many, MANY white collar criminals get sent to Club Fed minimum security lockups where they're barely watched and have almost as many rights as people on the outside.

They're in prison for committing crimes. They should ALL be doing HARD time.

his wife got a green card, but not him. He was ordered to be deported 16 yrs ago.

ignorance and failing to know the resolution of your case isn't an excuse for overstaying the verdict of his immigration case.

it's his fault for being selfish by having children and a wife knowing that there's a risk he will eventually be deported if caught. It's not Ice's fault for enforcing the law.

so what exactly is people's argument here?

that he deserves to be released and granted a green card? because he's been an upstanding citizen after he crossed here illegally and not respecting deportation orders? and that it's "unfair" that he will be separated from his american family?

really? is that even a fucking argument to begin with?

he broke the law by coming to this country illegally, was given a deportation order to leave and he didn't leave for 16 yrs. They finally enforced it 16 yrs later.

Why is this even up for debate? He broke the law and ICE is deporting him.

bbbut it's "UNFAIR" he's an "upstanding" illegal citizen!

Shame on him for putting his family on this situation. He should've known the risk before getting married and having kids. Dude is fucking selfish. I don't feel bad for him one bit.

okay, now you are sounding like a broken record. "it's unfair!!" "he's an upstanding illegal citizen" "ur a troll if you don't agree me" gimmick.

it's not ICE's fault or the govt's fault for breaking up the family, it's HIS fault. He decided to get married and have kids, knowing the risks involved if in case he gets caught and deported(there was already a deportation order before he met his wife). He's the one being selfish. There is a chance the immigration judge will give him a "stay of removal" where they will grant him 1 or 2 yrs, and he can renew that every year as long as he checks in with ICE. The chances of that is unlikely though especially under the Trump administration.

if you are talking about him getting a green card(permanent residency), it's basically impossible at this point.
