Mosquitoes really are horrid creatures. The worst itching I've ever experienced was because of a different bit on my foot. My foot went from being normal to half of it itching like crazy and intensely for a couple hours. I don't know what was in that filthy beast, but that sucked. I'd thought I'd somehow gotten some chemical on my foot and was shocked when I found the bite at the center of the awfulness.
