I would urge all those with any role in relation to knives manufacturers, shops, the police, local authorities, the government to consider preventing the sale of long pointed knives, except in rare, defined, circumstances, and replacing such knives with rounded ends."

But liberals told me there is no slippery slope when it comes to gun control regulations in the United States... How is this possible???

Great topic.

There's plenty of examples. Cops can raid houses without warrants looking for "illegal" knives, and will take pretty much whatever they want. A few weeks ago, London police tweeted out a picture of the "dangerous weapons" they confiscated from a no-knock raid on an apartment building. It included a butter knife, a couple of screwdrivers, and a pair of pliers.

These are "dangerous and deadly weapons" we need to get off the streets, apparently.

No it doesn't. That only happens when someone has proven to have commited a crime in the asset that is being forfeited.

Err lots of places in the USA already have knife bans.

Every state bans knives over a certain length. Varies by state. For NY the blade length can't be more than 4 inches, for Georgia it's 5 inches.

Some states outright ban some types of knives, like switchblades or retractable knives.

In literally WW2 it was considered a war crime to have a notched blade.

Not sure if true, but I've heard that carrying around a baseball bat in you car needed to be alongside a glove and baseball.

Or a ax handle needs to oddly have a blade on the end.

Because they can be viewed as weapons if not.

It means they good reason to search the place now instead of getting a warrant first. Using exigent circumstances if a police officer hears a couple loudly arguing and one of the couple screams "no please don't shoot" followed by a gun shot, the police can search the house now instead of getting a warrant.
