I think the audio mix on the movies is a bit toned down on music compared to the original trilogy.

It might not be god tier williams but to act like it's not even comparable is false, there are some damn good songs in the new trilogy.

This. Memorable movie music is just out of style these days. It seems like it's made to intentionally be forgettable, like it's setting the tone and then getting out of the way.

I do remember liking how whimsical 7's felt when I was in the theater but it's not like I could hum it afterwards.

A talk about the music of Rogue One.

Lots of thought gets put into it, but I'll concede, TC, that nobody has risen to William's golden era when it comes to leitmotifs.

But the reason me and other people have good new songs queued up is because we are paying attention. And things like Rey's theme, while not god tier still show a lot of promise. Williams might still have 1 epic Star Wars song in him yet.

Jedi steps is Last Jedi. Honestly TLJ had some decent music. As not popular as the scene was the escape on the creatures in Canto Bight had very distinctive music. And honestly if you pay attention almost all the music on Crait is pretty damn good.

I want a Star Wars movie scored by Bear McCreary. His work on BSG alone makes him one of the best modern composers currently working. Imagine Rogue One's final 35 or so minutes scored in a similar fashion.
