They taste about the same, but the fish are much smaller, which means they have less mercury and because they grow and reproduce faster, it's a much more ecologically sustainable fish. Aldi has sardines in oil that are nearly as cheap as brand name tuna (less than $1 per can), and the cans are labeled with where and how they were caught.
