No since they raise legitimate criticisms of his companies.

No I expect to have union problem when we determine employees need to work more, be held to higher standards, or get paid less...duh. The reason I now hate unions is because they literally see management as their eternal enemy no matter what we do. They fight us on everything just to fight us and they do not negotiate in good faith.

Example: Management would like to update a 15 year old trash software that everyone complains about, union is fighting us for not negotiating a change in working conditions...really?

I have someone quit, the window office is vacant, I tell one of my employees sitting in an interior office and tell her she can have the now vacated office. Union is mad the space reallocation wasn't negotiated.

Unions can get fucked.

Relevant!
https://www.revealnews.org/article/tesla-left-injuries-off-the-books-but-it-might-not-face-penalties/

Tesla Inc. recently added more names to its list of injured employees after Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting raised questions about whether the company was counting all of its work injuries, records show.

The electric car company added 13 injuries from 2017 that had been missing when Tesla certified its legally mandated injury report earlier this year.

Alaa Alkhaf**i, for example, smashed his face and arm in the paint department last fall. He said he had been asked to perform a task for which he had no training.

At the time of the injury, Tesla didnt put Alkhaf**i on official injury logs, even though the accident caused him to miss work. So it didnt count toward Teslas 2017 injury rate, which the company later trumpeted as matching the auto industry average.

Reveal wrote about Alkhaf**is injury last month as part of its investigation of injury undercounting and safety problems at Teslas Fremont, California, factory. By late April, Tesla had added him to the 2017 logs, dating his injury Oct. 1 and noting that he missed three days of work because of it.

Other recently added injuries include lacerations that made an employee miss more than 100 days of work, a dislocated knee for which a production associate remains out of work and various ergonomic injuries to the hand, wrist, back and shoulder.

Still, Reveal found Tesla has yet to record all of the 2017 injuries it should have by law. And the company might not face a penalty for it.

I will say that I kinda get this, as a pro-union guy
I'm a part of a union and it's a government job, so it's all kinds of messy. but I see this all the time, my union reps always badmouthing the agency and treating them like the enemy

like I get it. the big guys can fuck over the little guys way more than the reverse, but it doesn't have to be full on 1v1 deathmatch every time they negotiate

I've always thought Musk wasn't on the level, but now I suspect he is an outright fraud. It's beyond his union busting shit. His main idea is that capitalism can bring us to outer space, and he's either crazy for believing that or blatantly not thinking about how business doesn't thrive by making those investments, or just lying. It's going to take massive state investment. Which would be possible if the donor class wasn't dead-set against it. He tries to get around this by making himself a member of the donor class. But his car company is destined for failure. It is built on this idea that people want self-driving cars. Businesses want that, not everyday consumers that make or break big industry.

This is because the powers that be have stirred up the propaganda machines with even more lies about him and his businesses. It is because they are afraid of losing their influence and cash cows in the aerospace, automotive, energy, and intelligence sectors.

It's obvious that it is all a concerted and organized character assassination when the libertarians and the fucking communists are joining forces to badmouth him.

I don't blame him for not wanting to risk having them around. Most unions have been largely a positive force for workers as they ensure workers get fair compensation and benefits as well as decent hours and working conditions, but many other unions are pure cancer that will bankrupt a company because the final union-negotiated contract was placed in a gold-plated box instead of a solid platinum box (I know, total hyperbole) and thus should be Pinkerton'd once they are identified.

As Antifar said earlier in this topic, it's basically two different groups of people.

It's a very common cycle though.

1. Person innovates industry of some sort, proving some sort of competence.
2. People start praising person.
3. Person gets inflated sense of self worth and tries to stretch their expertise into many different areas or try to make the thing they innovated broad. In addition, person starts to make grandiose claims.
4. If sufficiently disguised by technology/engineering/science, a subset of the population starts worshipping the person.
5. Annoyed by the worship, people start investigating their industry, ideas, etc.
6. Often the innovation is designed in a way that produces huge short term results that are unsustainable. The grandiose claims are picked apart.
7. Person falls back down to Earth or in some cases right out implodes.

Negotiation implies there's give and take. A bad enough union can say "Give us all of this or we strike and really fuck you!"

Anyway, I wasn't aware that people didn't realize Elon Musk is a massive man child. Some of what his companies end up working on just sound like a toddler went "IT WOULD BE SO COOL IF..." Except it's not a toddler, it's the head of the company. There's no way his ventures hold water forever. Well... ACtually, isn't Space X the only one making a profit and it's holding Tesla up?
