Here's what I have gathered so far...

Batman Beyond

-In development at WB
-Set after the events of AK
-Nemsis system (think shadow of Mordor but with criminals)
-Takes place in a dystopian Gotham city, almost has a post-apocalyptic vibe to it
-This game was actually the Damien Wayne game some of you may have heard about, but was rebooted due to negative reception from fans
-Not a total reboot, keeping the same map/side missions but changing the main character from Damien to Terry

Superman

-Being developed by Rocksteady
-Self-titled: Superman
-Release Date set for Spring 2019
-Shooting for a T rating

City details:

-In distress. Not completely evacuated.
-Random crimes like car chases and bank robberies
-Iconic buildings such as the Daily Planet, Lexcorp (tall building with a massive "L" at the top), Cadmus Labs, Stryker's can be seen in the distance, but not gone to, etc.
-Fixed time of day. Only sunlight in this one.
-No dynamic weather, it's just sunny with some clouds in the sky.
-You can use your powers on buildings and partially destroy them, but you can't tear them down.

Gameplay:

-No stealth. It's Superman.
-A lot more puzzles. Various people will be trapped during the fallout of Metropolis, so you have to save them using different sets of powers.
-Does have some quick-fire powers similar to the gadgets in the Arkham games.
-The transition to combat is just like in the Arkham games. Once you engage, everything opens up.
-Boss fights are typically 1v1. You'll still have to use your assortment of powers though. You can't punch your way out of everything.
-You can control the speed of your flight using the RT or R2. No brake button though, Superman decelerates on his own.
-Powers include heat vision, freeze breath, and super breath.

Story:

-Superman has been a hero for about 5 years.
-He has a considerable rogues gallery already including Metallo and Parasite.
-Lex Luthor is a powerful businessman and still seen in a favorable light in the eyes of the public.
-Brainiac is a Coluan
-It DOES take place in the Arkhamverse, but have absolutely no ties to the other games, other than hints of their existence in this world.

We'll see if any of this holds up in a few weeks.

Just taking a stab at it since I never played SoM, this means Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 with the one Ring of Power is a criminal you have to beat up in the gsme's main story.

Which... could be cool I guess?

I wonder how other games are going to handle it, since in SoM and SoW you just come back to life after dying. That wouldn't really work in this case.

You can't have a good Superman game because no one could create a challenge for him in the context of a video game.

but they can't unless they go the route of giving every criminal in the city kryptonite or something

otherwise bosses would be the only ones that could damage the player

They can. Regular thugs would have to be powered up somehow I suppose. I think boss battles are where they can really shine with Superman though. He has plenty of powerful enemies.

Superman is vulnerable to magic but then the problem arises that "is this any different than a guy with a gun vs. Batman?"

Either you portray Superman the way people expect him to be portrayed and make a really dull game of it or you introduce enemies who have the ability to damage Superman and ask yourself did this actually make sense as a Superman game.

Nah, there are many ways you can make a Superman game that's challenging.

The first way is lazy, but effective. Just depower him. Either this universe has a weaker Superman or there's some plot reason for why he's not as strong as he normally is. Red Sun, Kryptonite poisoning, magic spell, etc.

The second way is a little better. Have him fight enemies on his level. You don't need him to be chasing after bank robbers who are only packing P90s, have the enemies with plasma rifles because Braniac and Luthor teamed up to kill Superman. Have Zod, Doomsday, Metallo, Martians, etc. who are on his level who can cause real damage to him be the enemies.

The third way could be combined with the second. Superman stopping a mercenary group isn't dangerous for him, it's dangerous for the hostages inside the building. He needs to save them.
Instead of it being an annoying ass escort or timer mission, you could also combine this with a "health system" for Metropolis. Yeah won't really die from the 50 foot robot Godzilla creature from the paradimension, but instead of damaging him it damages the city and you need to stop it from being an Apocalypse.

Superman: The Man of Steel on Xbox did find a way around this but it was hokey (your "health" is actually the state of the city and if the city gets too damaged, then you failed).

Superman's power level has historically been all over the place, from sneezing solar systems out of place to struggling with 20 or so tons.

You couldn't really have just standard "guy with a gun" thugs, no, but there are plenty of ways you could give him nonbosses that are a threat. Even Lexbots could work. Distribute kryptonite like the guns in the Arkham games and there ya go.

It's hard to trust any real source when it comes to rumors but I've been hearing about a Batman Beyond and especially a Superman game for about a year now. This E3 will show whether or not these rumors are real. We haven't heard from Rocksteady or WB Games Montreal in a few years. They should be showing their next projects relatively soon.

Also, there have been a picture and even some audio clips supposedly of this alleged Superman game. It could be someone or some people going to great lengths to create this lie of a Superman game but we'll see. I would like to see more great games from DC, though.

What about the satyrs presents a viable threat to Superman? Are we supposed to make an assumption about them that would infer they bring with them magical power that can harm Superman? How is this different from Batman wandering the streets to punch masked goons?
