My alarm app has a white noise thing. A new mattress would help, tho.

Not sure I understand the question I just go to bed and sleep like in 1-3 minutes. I sleep 6 hours and jump out of bed when I hear the alarm fully awake. I don't like sleeping and I feel it as a chore and a waste if time I only do it because I know it's necessary.

Have you looked in to polyphasic sleep schedules?

Id like to try it, but i have sleep issues that probably wouldnt mesh with that well.

consistent sleep schedule. i'm usually lying in bed by midnight most nights.

total darkness. draw the curtains and stuff. no tv screens or hallway lights

some form of pleasant noise. i lived in a suburban area near a busy road growing up so i always liked either the sound of crickets or some minor road noises like cars going by. even the sound of the wind.

a distraction. something where you can get your mind off life a bit. i either read or listen to a podcast for a while and it helps get me settled

comfy mattress

clean sheets

no screens for at least half an hour before going to sleep. helps your body start winding down

I've noticed I do get the best sleep when I follow the recommended sleep tips most sites give. I go to bed by 1 am and always set my alarm to 9 am (usually wake up, though, around 8 to 8:30). By midnight, I enforce a zero technology rule on myself, and usually just try to read in another room in dim lighting until I get sleepy.

I used to read in bed, but I stopped doing that cause they say you should only use bed for sex and sleep so that your mind associates laying in bed with sleep. If I have trouble sleeping, I try to focus on my breathing so that I don't overthink in bed.

I used to use apps to help me sleep but most of them only worked for a few nights and then not as well. I used to use one that measured my sleep quality, and I would get a few great nights, but then I think I would get anxiety if I couldn't fall asleep, I wouldn't get a great night sleep score, and it'd screw me up.

White noise machine for my tinnitus
Magnesium supplement a few hours before bed (I need to cut back on coffee too - it leeches that nutrient out of the body)
Memory foam mattress with a thin sheet, sorta thick blanket, and really thick blanket to stay at a good temp

Having said all that, I still have sleep problems. Most nights it takes me at least an hour - occasionally 2-3, sometimes more. More than once I ended up going to work after lying in bed for 7 hours and not getting a wink. (Before you ask, it's not the coffee - I have other problems.)

It doesn't help that my friends work a completely different schedule than I do, so I routinely fuck my sleep schedule up.

I've found that turning my alarm clock so I can't read the time helps me sleep better. If I can see the time, I keep checking it.
