The average age of menopause is like, 50. What woman is going to school for 32 years?

A woman that becomes a doctor I believe has gone to school for around 32 years. Fertility drops every year after 30 I believe and is significantly reduced at age 35.

I can realize that the likelihood after 35 is less, but still, this is pushing a ridiculous rationale for a declining birth rate as the people it's impacting are so minuscule it's statistically irrelevant. It's simply a shitpost for easy bait and I'm treating it as such

This is not good at all. Population decline is the key factor in destruction of a civilization.

Only in ancient societies that needed those populations for labor which is certainly not the case in modern societies, in which it's the opposite. A lot of people are unnecessary and a burden.
By the way, things Iike "cultural integration" are also considered factors in those ancient societal collapses

I just posted an article on this the other day. We are following Japan's trend.

Yes.

Japan is pretty much a crystal ball for us. Their dynamic, can-do economy became a strictly hierarchical field with some very established megacorporations with too much power. Companies who did titanic things such as developing a successful auto and electronics industry out of thin air suddenly can't adapt to any changes, just look at how Sony handled their hacks.

With shrinking jobs, men became disinterested in procreating and even dating, giving rise to the subculture known as hikikomori and also the "herbivore men".

Our economy is heading the same way, and we have our own version of hikikomori, called the shut-ins, and herbovire men, the incels.

Japan was never open to immigration so they're hurting now. We were open to immigration and that helped offset our birth rate issues, but now MAGA happened and the anti-immigrant sentiment is strong (just look at the recent "animals" speech).

The upside of this is that it means we got at still 20 years before we become what japan is right now.

I basically agree with all of this and this is a big reason why I've criticized Japan in the past. As we inch closer and closer to AI becoming a reality while at the same time pushing rhetoric that divides the species, we are going to push to our own eventual collapse.

Is it any wonder? It's never been more expensive to have a child, and real wages have been declining for nearly 40 years now. Plus, a lot of the typical blue-collar fields(manufacturing, mining, etc.) have shed jobs due to automation and off-shoring. You need a (ludicrously expensive) bachelor's degree to even get your foot in the door to most decent-paying jobs.
A large portion of my (small) income goes to paying off student loans. I can't afford to buy a house, and I certainly can't afford to raise a child, let alone afford to send that kid to college. I'd like to have kids, but it's economically unfeasible, even if I was with some one.

I hope now people will stop thinking overpopulation is a problem, or ever will be one.

I mean, it's still increasing in in many places. Increasing overall. Also, well, the ones pumping out the most babies are the poor and highly religious. Which is not good.

It's totally fine. Overpopulation is a myth. The earth can actually sustain quite a bit more people than we ever will have. Experts say the population will never even reach 12 billion, which still wouldn't be considered overpopulated.

It's a fact of life that the more people there are the more the average quality of life will worsen. It's not a coincidence the happiest countries and regions with the highest quality of life have the smallest populations.

That's not true at all.

Nicklebro logic. The more people there are the less resources to go around thus lessening the average quality of life. Kids in a family of 4 would obviously have on average a better life than kids in a family of 10.

So if there were only 100 people on Earth they'd all live like gods! Much better logic. Lmao.

Because the majority of developed countries is like this. Canada and Australia are in the same boat with even stricter immigration policies than the US.

Nobody said "open borders". Canada and Australia are more open than Japan, for example. The US is currently more open than Japan too, but the de facto situation makes it more like japan because of the MAGA stuff, I mean, look at the hissy fit you just threw here

And Japan already has a higher population (and economy) than both. The point still stands that all developed countries have similar levels of decreasing population as well as strict immigration policies.
You're just being an ignorant idealist who know doesn't know how the world works.

My post wasn't even about immigration, it was about the paralels between both countries and how Japan is like a crystal ball for us.

You're the one who got triggered because "MAGA!! MAGA!!! WHITE ONLY PLOX"

The irony of you going "white only plox" when the reason you're negatively comparing the US with Japan and not any of the other developed countries with the same exact situations is because of your xenophobia and casual racism towards it. And I'm certain all the countries you're going to assert as good countries all happen to be white countries too.

Now we just need the 3rd world to slow down the rate at which they're reproducing. The poorest countries add around 70 million more people per year to the global population. That is not sustainable, yet they're fucking like rabbits.

Too many fucking people in this country.

we both know what you really mean.

anyways great news.

this justifies the argument that we need to loosen up immigration laws.

I want more people in America

What? Lmao, no. Right here in this thread you see people saying that its good that the birth rate is declining, as in we dont need more people. How in the fuck does that translate to open the borders and increase immigration?
