back then you were stuck watching whatever trash the TV gave you at that hour, now you can watch anything you want at any time (remember when you only saw dragon ball like once a week with that god awful dub)

Back then the loser nerd virgin in class had a gameboy(later on a gameboy color) playing pokemon, now you can play tekken/street fighter or whatever with your outcast friends... and you don't even NEED to be in the same classroom to do so

You have phones with like 40gb of mobile data, you could always contact your best friend even if you were unlucky enough to be in different classrooms for a year, plus if you had free time in class and weren't feeling it you could just browse whatever

Even if you had 50iq and no real ambition, you could always just play stickball like in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Yeah remember 56k in the 90s? if you were lucky enough to have DSL in the early 00s it was still godamn awful.

If you were a real permavirgin turbo gamer, you had a tiny chance to make it big in twitch or youtube at the very least.

Even the bullies have it better, now they can bully you emotionally using the internet and social media, which is far more damaging to a child's self esteem and will to live.

Growing up as a kid in the U.S. in the pre-9/11 era was undoubtedly better.

Kids in the 2010s probably do have it a bit better than kids in the 2000s, but nothing compared to the 90s.

I mainly see a big difference between 80s and 90s kids due to internet access, but then 80s kids finally got worthwhile home consoles compared to 70s kids. Youre always getting technological pushes. I do think kids got it pretty good today as far as knowing its not a big deal to be gay etc. Even though youre gonna have bullying regardless

I think kids these days don't have it much better or worse than us. It's just very different.

+Media wise, they have it much better than us with Netflix, Marvel movies, amazing internet, amazingly cheap/free games of quality, and better tech in general.

-However, because of that they are lacking in social interaction. When I was a kid and wasn't in school I was outside playing with my friends until 8 or 9 pm.

It's a little bit sad, tbh. Those memories are priceless.

Constantly playing on their phones or tablets, they're depriving themselves of skills taught by outside play, having patience as opposed to having everything accessible at a moment's notice, using your imagination as opposed to having everything fed to you. Even the military talks about how too many of their applicants are overweight and too out of shape to qualify, and the standards have dropped over the years.

kids today have to work harder in school. they have more tests now. I used to live in WA and I barely dodged a state test. just like a couple years after I graduated highschool they started making kids take these tests similar to the SAT's, in each grade I think. I never would have passed probably
