Crono once had a 2,000+ vote lead over Sonic and Sonic managed to overcome it and win the match.
Sonic won the match by only 1,940 votes.
Knuckles had defeated Magus the previous year...hmm...

Notable Accolades:

The first time in contest history did ANYBODY beat Sephiroth other than Link and Cloud 1-on-1.
FF7 started showing it's first signs of aging after this match.
It would of been nice if this match was 24 hours long -- just to see what more damage Snake could of done.

Sonic did an amazing comeback, but the match was predictable when he started to cut.

I don't remember anything about Snake VS Seph. Snake had already won once or twice over Sephy so the result was predictable.

Sonic/Crono 2006 - defeated Master Chief/Felix 2003 in Round 1 and Tidus/Ganon 2003 in Round 2.
Snake/Sephiroth 2010 - defeated Gordon/Tina 2002 in Round 1 and Luigi/Kirby 2006 in Round 2.

Master Chief vs. Felix 2003 - Felix was NEVER seen again

Tidus vs. Ganondorf 2003 - ...Okay you got me there. But it was better than something else from 2003 like Mario/Shadow 2003 or Wario/Shadow 2003.

Gordon vs. Tina 2002 - The start of the GFNW gag.

Luigi vs. Kirby 2006 - Luigi FINALLY making it to Round 3 for the first time.

Luigi/Zero 2006 was probably the best of the four-pack but, it lost to Link/Jay 2006 in Round 1.

I'd take Gordon/ Tina over either of these here.(just because Tina isn't well known, and she somehow won, then never saw another contest. We deserved more Tina!)
